I was told green was for transformer machines and NOT inverter machines....

Never use green on a inverter welder it will kill them.

I use Orange (Ceriated) on everything now and it works great i used to use red but some one gave me orange and i liked it

thorium for steel and lanthanum for aluminum, or tri-mix for both. cerium is good also, you should buy a few and see what you like. and you are correct, DO NOT use green on an inverter. You can set balance, frequency, and waveforms to maintain a pointed tip.

In selecting rare earth tungsten, industry experts recommend 2 percent ceriated, 1.5 percent lanthanated or 1 percent lanthanated. That's because ceriated and lanthanated hold up better for AC applications than 2 percent thoriated, and are radiation free, unlike thoriated. The most common electrode used in DC applications remains thoriated. However, because of concerns about radiation, most experts strongly recommend ceriated and lanthanated electrodes for both AC and DC welding because of their superior performance and the fact that they are radiation free. Tests have demonstrated that the ceriated and lanthanated electrodes are equal to thoriated electrodes in terms of their welding properties and even surpass them in some respects. Both the ceriated and lanthanated electrodes are DC- and AC-weldable and can be used universally for almost every welding task.
from miller, we use ceriated for everything

thanks, i was thinking orange

Thats nice I can use it for both instead of always swapping back and forth! I am going to LOVE this.

I just wish I had the 350 for the 1/4 and thicker **** I do. But where I work, we have welders that do 350+Amps. Ill just save up for the 350 in a few years I guess.

Miller is coming out with a Dynasty 280 that will have the same features as the 200, so no independent amplitude control. The miller rep came and did a demo at the college for the tig class and this is what he told me.

Arc-zone tri-mix is the best I have used at length.
I really liked Diamond Ground Products' similar mix, but I think it was the superior finish.
I don't buy anything else, even Lanthanum doesn't hold up as well as the hybrid.
Ceriated is great for low-amperage stuff, but it goes away quick due to it's migration rate.
You can abuse the crap out of them amperage-wise(185 amps on 1/16" all day), and they fire up nice. They don't spall or split on AC, and hardly cost any extra. I buy tungsten every 2 years or so, so if they are $10/box more, it's not a factor.

I have used Diamond grounds tri-mix before and liked it, you can go on their website and request a free sample if you like they will send you one and a whole packet of information on tungsten, good stuff to read.

Question:

On my dynasty200, I need to order a torch (air cooled).
What is that threaded port above the torch disconnect?

I need a WP17 torch for it (air cooled w/hose) and I am looking on eBay and afraid I will buy the wrong thing.

it's for gas, the machine comes with an air cooled dense connector to connect the torch, buy the 17 and it will work.

I bought the machine only. No parts. So can I not just leave that port open? May I ask you link me to what I need for an aircooled torch setup for this welder please. I'm in the dark

I bought the same thing, just the machine and it comes with three dense connectors, one for stick, one for ground and one for an air cooled tig torch. Just buy a #17 torch and it will hook right up. Weldtec has torches pretty cheap and you can find them on ebay, just search WT17.

Here is one 25' for $79.99

Hell yea Wade,

Good to see you'll be back in business quick with one bad *** machine. I bet your stoked!

Im so damn excited about getting your syncrowave 200, I may start a useless thread about it. Haha.

It works great man, I'm amazed with how smooth it is compared to my old one. Just ordered a bunch of goodies for it, can't wait to use them.

Thanks again,
DK
