1st time ever doing it Legal 1/4 times
Hey guys first time ever on a 1/4 track ... let me know what you think
Car:
93 Civic HB (DX)
B16a Hydro
DC 4-1 Ceramic header (USDM)
DAC short Ram intake
Tanabe Full stainless catback exhaust (R-spec)
Tires are totaly bald stockies I mean totaly
Full interior + 1 set of golf clubs, 1 suitcase, 1 Floor jack and 1 spair tire
Now the times ... Got two Runs ...
1st run:
R/T .989
60' 2.543
330 6.823
1/8 10.255
MPH 71.43
1000 13.227
1/4 15.784
MPH 87.64
2nd Run
R/T 1.019
60' 2.545
330 6.801
1/8 10.221
mph 71.68
1000 13.169
1/4 15.660
MPH 89.65
I think when I get better at the tree, some better tires ... oh and not 100 lbs of junk in my trunk I could be looking at 14.9's am I dreaming or is that a possiblity ? thanks .. oh and take it easy on me I have never raced on a track before !!!

The rule of thumb is: Every tenth you drop on your 60 ft, will drop 2 tenths off your 1/4 time.
So considering you are running mid 15's w/ 2.5 60fts. I think high 14's are possible with more traction/practice.

golf clubs add hp... dont take it out.

yeah u should be able to hit low 15's or high 14's. i ran a 16.1 @ 85 in my 90 si with the stock engine with 4-2-1 header, exhaust, intake.
Thanks for the info guys, as for the tires I have 17 Tenzo RS5's .. this weekend I used my steely's up front,
1st are there slicks that will fit my 13's ?
If not am I better with my 17's and nitto 450's or 13's and a decent set of street tires ? (I understand that the rotational mass of the 17s is a lot more thats why im asking )
Oh and what should I use on the back 17's (roll easier biger and wider) or 13's (spinn faster thinner )
Thanks again
Still dreaming of that 14 sec time slip ...
cuz there is so much more room for improvement in this car .. Cams, Intakemanifold, Throtle body, ......... so many mods so little money

my buddy witha 94 GSR hit a 14.2 i think it was with just a homemade intake and some free mods...but with full interior and street tires. There is time there, but don't worry about the tree just yet. I'd get used to launching and stuff, don't worry about the car next to you, worry about yourself and you will get better, then learn the tree.
You can do better i'm sure... what were you launching at? what type of tires do you have on the car, and @ what psi? I'm sure you can delve into the mid 14s with just a few tricks.
ps... why the hell did you run down the track with all that crap in your car?
HA ... Like the other guys said the golf clubs add hp !!!!
actuly I really wasent planning on racing. I was in town visiting a buddy when another friend called to tell me bout the races. I said sure why not. ....
The street tires are junk ... When I did my swap I gave my old car to my buddy ( It was totaled and I figured it was worth it sence he let me use his garage to do the swap for free) he tossed me a set of stock tires to use to get home, they are way old with NO TRED at all ... the side walls are cracked from sun damage ..if I make it to the 15th (payday) so I can buy some new tires I will be very happy.
No offence taken a 14.4 is an amazing time in a 96 hb with just a home made intake and full interior .. This was my first time racing on the strip. Just means I need more practice .. And I was looking here for some tips

When I was using regular radials I was a good 4 tenths slower due to wheel spin.
Traction matters and I would suggest a pair of BFG drag radials. I LOVE mine.
I cut a 2.08 on 17 psi my third time to the track with them. They are no joke. But I wouldnt reccomend using them as daily tires cause they wouldnt last long.
An EG chassis with a hydro B16 should be easily into the 14's with traction deeper into them if you lose the A/C and powersteering crap.
Keep your rear tires up at 40-44 psi and the fronts at 22-23 psi on streets, 12-17 psi for drag radials and skip the slicks for right now....dont risk breaking parts for a few tenths over drag radials.
With that I think a solid 14.2-14.4 is totally possible.

That does not make sence. You should be getting better times then that. Last time I went to the Track I ran a 15.79 with my SOHC in my EX Coupe with Bald *** Tires.

I run a 14.2 in my 92 VX hatch with a B16 with a 2.1 60ft on nittos. Almost same bolt on's too (AEM CAI, DC 4-1, Greddy SP). Get some sticky tires. Although my first run ever with the car (full interior, 16's, no TPS
) I ran a 14.9 with a 2.4 60ft.
