question about gloss, semi-gloss, or flat before clear
alright ht i hav a question for the rattle can experts. i will b painting my car wit rustoleum paint (in a spray can) nd i was wondering wat finish is best to use. i will b sanding nd preppin all panels nd parts of the car before paint. fixin dents nd primering. i will b using a 2k clear coat nd id like to hav a nice finish when im done. ive noticed that gloss colors when sprayed tend to hav a lotta orange peel as the paint dries nd shrinks. but flat colors stay pretty uniform. so could i minimize the orange peel by shootin a flat black instead of a gloss black as a base coat then clear? nd how will that affect the finished product nd how glossy the finish is?? or does that depend on how the clear is applied nd buffed???
2k clear will lift rustoleum. If you have a gun, as you must to spray 2k clear, why not use a urethane basecoat?
As to your question: flat black looks like it lays flatter but that is not always the case. It is hard to make a spray bomb lay anything down in an even manner, ever. If it were a single stage urethane or activated acrylic enamel, I would spray gloss, flat it with a high grit paper and then clear.

The 2k clear is not a rustoleum product. Nd the clear i hav is in a spray can. The hardener is in the can nd when ur ready to use it u mix the 2
