dc2 integra cold hard start but easy starts everyother time
i drive a 2000 gsr with the stock motor, intake, exhaust manifold, exhaust, stock obd2 ecu, stock EVERYTHING if that has anything to do with anything
my cold starts have gotten much harder and the cranks are noticeably longer than before but itll start up right away after... the thing im worried about is that it sounds like its not getting enough fuel and sounds like its on 3 cylinders and slowly climbs to about 900-1k rpms . once i tap the gas for about 1 second or 2 light blips itll idle normal @1.5-1.6k rpms and it will warm up perfectly normal. through out the day the car will start up like a champ... it seems to only struggle on cold starts. while driving i didnt notice any bogging, no hesitations or anything.
any ideas? fuel pump, fuel filter, coolant temp sensor? ive looked up and searched what i could i was wondering if anyone has had any experience or knows... thanks. couldnt really find anyone with a problem like me
im very concerned because from what i know it seems like cold starts are very harsh on the motor as is, and i dont want to put any more stress on it.
plz help if you can, id like to save some money not buying all the parts not necessary LOL

Cold start valve? Or maybe something to do with the ect, the ect tells the computer that the engine is cold so it dumps more fuel to help it start. People think that shutting your car off at lights wastes gas when you start it back up but really it hardly uses any gas because the ect tells the ecu that the engine is warm.
yeah that what im guessing it is so far... hopefully its that, i wonder if testing my fuel pressure is gonna tell me anything?
alright so basically that rules out the fuel pump? is there anyway i can check my etc sensor? or should i just go ahead and buy it and install it?

does my car have one? i thought that was for old school cars... but i bought some redline fuel cleaner and im going to replace my fuel filter since it hasnt been changed
alright that one is probably ruled out then
umm like 8hr+ cold starts, like when the engine is fully cooled down or cold. but its getting colder around here and its starting to do it more frequently as the temps are going down... maybe it has something to do with the fast idle? could it be my battery?
another thing i found to be weird was that if i rev the car before i shut it off it that night it would start up fine the next morning even when its super cold outside. tried it out the first time, and the second time i tried it same result... not sure what that would mean but i hope it helps. so with that, im guessing its fuel related for sure now

my start up is exactly like that, and he give it gas as well and it idles normal on cold start! my exact situation......

all i can say is check your fuel pressure. or you can try to prime your fuel system before you start it on off a couple of times and see if that does any thing. also the other week my friend had the same thing on a ek ended being his plugs wires and cap rotor after that it check ok
yeah priming it a few times seemed to get it to start normal during my cold start.... what does this mean?
and i was browsing on inlinefour or some parts, and i came acrosss the IAT sensor, could it be that?

yes your fuel pressure regulator is going, you can check the vacuum line off the regulator too. Sometimes a pinhole leak will alter the vacuum drawn from the regulator, have you modified your fuel pressure regulator?
for cold starts your Intake Air Temp sensor is going to read the same so I doubt that would be the problem. Revving the car before shut down is increasing the pressure in the fuel system and when you start it on cold starts it will fire up fine because of the extra pressure.
nope havent touched it, its bone stock... so its something that would only affect my cold starts? again my car runs well when its warm
went to inlinefour, and they suggested cleaning the iacv and to replace my coolant temp sensor....
gonna replace the fuel filter, dis cap and rotor, plugs and wires... throw in some redline fuel cleaner in the tank, clean the iacv. hopefully this takes care of the problem.. hopefully its not the fpr but if any other ppl agree on that one then ill just go ahead and order a new one and get a new coolant temp sensor while im at it?

fuel pressure regulator. may be faulty, iat very seldom those go out there just a resistor.
fuel may be leaking and going straight back to the tank. you can try to disconect the vac hose and see if theres a diff. usually when vac hose is removed pressure increases.
Do you have an extra one?
