Any tips on making a tan interior look fresh?
Hey guys. I love car interiors and I'm very vigilant about keeping mine detailed. I use almost all meguiars products on goodyear microfibers for my dash, door panels, ect. I recently bought a 98 LX with a tan interior and I love it. It got even better when I steam cleaned it with a little green machine. But it still doesn't seem clean enough. Despite blasting the hell out of the area around the driver side built in rubber floormat, the area still appears much dirtier than the rest of the carpet and has almost a brown look to it. I'm curious as to how I should go next with it: should I steam clean/extract it more or try using resolve foam carpet cleaner or even bleach? Or should I just face it and get floor mats? Thanks guys.
Yeah, perhaps I shall try a pressure washer. Treat the entire carpet with simplegreen first?
Problem with no mats is that when you get dirt into the carpet, the "traffic" over that is what wears the carpet. You can't "clean" that out.
Hell, I actually usually use TWO sets of floormats--the nice OEM ones and a set of rubber ones over those.

Does your car not have a spot for the little holders? Some do, theres a little clip type thing that holds the floor mat down.
I know what you mean though. When I bought my car it didn't any, and I just went and bought some cheapo autozone ones. They do move around, but not enough to bug me too much.

Don't use bleach period.
As for floot mats OEM ones or decent aftermarket ones cut for your car should do the trick, just move it back once in awhile, since they are pretty thick, plus there should be a hole in the mat and a hook on the floor to keep it from sliding.
