S2k Speaker question ??
So I've researched into getting aftermarket door speakers.
I'm told there 6 1/2s??
Im leaning towards Getting some Alpine speakers but Im told they will not fit without some custom mounting bracket? what ones will work?
What are some of the the better aftermarket speakers you s2k owners have put into yours?? I want something really goood
Any info would be appreciated thanks, Matt

Ive upgraded my system twice.
Thei first time I did i went from all stock. to a memphis mid range in teh front. 6.5 inch in the doors and a 10 inch sub and an amp.
then last week i upgraded again.
replaced teh door speakers with memphis high range with mids and highs cross overs, added a 4 inch coaxial speaker in the plastics behind the seats, and added a cap to the amp cycle.
and i also dyno matted the whole car.
i still have my first set of memphis speakers for the front doors if your interested.

The doors will use a 6.5 in the woofer spot. Depending on what kind of speaker you purchase, you may need to use a spacer adapter so that the depth of the speaker will not be an issue during installation. JLAudio has a great subwoofer enclosure that you can purchase for the trunk, which fits nicely in the storage bin in the floor. Replace the door speakers (with a set of components preferable so that you get a new woofer and tweeter), slap a sub in the trunk, and put a small multi-channel amplifier in there to power all of it, and you will be rockin!!
PS - If you do choose to replace the stock receiver, installation is very easy, and integration pieces are made now so that you can retain the control buttons on the left hand side of the dash.

Bf and I both have Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1 component speakers in ours. Took a little bit of modification. Had to cut the backs of the stock speaker baskets. Didn't require any special mounting brackets or spacers though.
i have 6 1/2 alpines in my doors....still cant hear **** though while driving down the interstate....im about to add 4 inch alpines behinds my seats when i upgrade my head unit which should be soon since its a peice of **** and plays cds when it wants to...but i dont believe i had to modify anything, i think i just screwed them straight in
Kenwood x995 HU with Modifry dash control, Focal 165 VB speakers/tweeters, 6.5" kicker sub in a custom box under the soft top storage area, and a JL 4 channel amp running around 300 watts.
A lot to put it all in (not a single thing is visible, including amp, sub, etc) but well worth the sound.
