yay!!! I smoked a curb doing 60 last night...
I was doing some spirited driving last night down a curvy road that I have fun on all of the time...Well it was dark and I was trying to stay in my lane. The curve was nice and wide, and I came in doing about 65mph, while taking it on the inside. I turned the wheel a little more, lost traction and began to slide...then my dumbass hit the brakes. I immediately was thrown in a straight line towards the curb....All I have to say is I should have taken that turn a little wider. I hit the curb doing approximately 55-60mph...I broke my front drivers side rim, and blew out the sidewall of the back drivers side tire as well as curbing that rim pretty good.
Damage done...1 shattered rota slipstream, 1 curbed slipstream, and 2 blown tires. The frame, engine, radiator, everything...is straight. But the alignment is obviously fucked....yay!!! More money for me to spend.
Curbed rota with blown out sidewall....
Sorry for the dark pics...here is a shattered slipstream...
All I have to say is I'm glad that was a rota and not a $400 Spoon rim....hahaha

damn, that sucks. lol, i'm with you on the "i'm glad it wasn't a SW388" thing!!! that would be 800 dollars down the drain instead of like...300. are you just going to replace the two or go with a new style of wheel?
EDIT: Oh and umm...I am by no means an experienced driver. So what should one have done in that situation??

Are you sure you didn't bend a control arm or something?
I doubt that the wheels are the only thing damaged.

-231, who's just glad nobody got hurt.
ouch.
you're very luck you have no frame damage. had they been stronger forged rims, you might have had frame damage.

hehe, I'm trying to keep this from happening to me if I'm ever in a similar situation
u are lucky, when my R hit the curb at 70mph, it broke the front passenger wheel, bent the rear wheel, axle, spindle, shock, bent the subframe, fender , cracke the inner fender well and cost the ins company about $10,000 to fix

what can you do? you modulate the rotation of your car with the gas pedal. the more you lift off the gas pedal the more you'll rotate. generally touching the brake pedal while IN the turn is a no no. trail braking can be used to your advantage, but lets not talk about that. if you feel your car start to rotate, mash on the gas pedal for understeer. it'll cause your car to "push" rather then oversteer.
