Default Stripping Paint Off Valve Cover (not 56k friendly)

i know pretty much everyone knows how to do this by now. But i just did it today to my b20 and wanted to show how it's done for the curious minds out there.

Remove your valve cover:

Just get a can of aircraft paint remover, spray it on, and this is wat happens:

After that, jus wipe the shiet off. I got lazy and jus used a blow gun and blew it all off. I also resprayed it 4 times to get it ALL off. It was easy though. Just spray, wait, and wipe.

When your done, it should look a lil sumthin like this.

Can't see jack. Just red x's. You need to host the pics somewhere, then link to them in your post. You can't upload off your hard drive directly to honda-tech.

That actually looks pretty nice just as it sits with no paint. I had a GSR one with the cam gear area cut out and I thought it looked pretty good. Too bad I was just borrowing it while I was getting the car tuned.

What kind of paint would one use to make it look similar to a red type r valve cover? Does it come out as similar texture when you do it yourself?

if you want the texture u should paint OVER the old oem paint. i'm actually gonna keep it metal color for now. wanted to paint it blue but might look "ricey" so i jus stripped it.

I believe you can buy what's called "krinkle paint" or something like that. You may try your local delaership for a can but it creats the same krinkle effect as the stock one.

I highly recommend VHT Wrinkle Plus Red paint (SP-204). It is nearly identical to the Type-R red valve cover paint. You can go to my webpage at http://www.geocities.com/bretq/Valve...tructions.html for instructions of painting the valve cover and photos of my painted valve cover.

it looks nice when it's first stripped, but when the bare aluminum touches anything mildly dirty, it'll suck up that dirt real quick.

yeah but it tends to give a tinge of yellow/brown tint to it. Just spray it silver
