it will help a little, i was running straight headers into my vibrant 2.5" exhaust on my d16y7 and i hated the sound. it was extremely loud and had the raspy ricer tone. once i welded in my high flow cat it cut down the loudness and took away most of that raspy-ness. my exhaust is still loud but the ricer sound is gone.

whats your exhaust setup like?

i went with a magnaflow high flow cat. if that doesnt help with the sound as much as you would like then you might need to weld in another resonator.

Agree'd, resonators are the way to go, over a cat.

I'm kinda in the same boat. I am running a test pipe with a ITR rep header and OEM exhaust. With my build I am going to need to ditch the OEM cat back but I do not want any rasp.

Resonators definately help a lot. And so does a cat. I have Buddy Club Spec II on my car and before a leak sprung on me it didn't sound raspy at all.

High flow cat works too, although it runs louder than an OE cat.
