Default 90 accord motor pull HELP

Have a 90 accord with a H22a in it and ive done plenty of motor pulls in my day but never on a honda, so pretty straight forward question, whats the easiest way to pull it? motor trans intake all in one out the top? or out the bottom? or pull the intake off then the motor out the top n leave the trans in the bay? any suggestions would be much appreciated as im new to the honda scene thanks!

I pulled the engine with trans and IM from the top. Then I drop them back in as one unit.

Civic here, but we found it easiest to use a hoist and bring it through the top, transmission and manifolds intact.

Two people to maneuver the engine and one to watch and make sure everything cleared.

Use engine hoist to put the motor on the floor. Then lift the car up with the engine hoist(if its strong enough). I use two sets of chains looped through the front tow hooks. Its so easy. Its almost impossible to go out the top.

How is it impossible to go out the top; especially, the older Hondas?

Engine bay is pretty big on these CB7 Accords after you remove the radiator, battery, A/C to the side, etc. People pull them out from the top everyday.

I personally have removed the engine from a 1990 Accord LX. I took it out through the top. The crank pulley was damaged, And I had to cut off the transmission mount.(it was a parts car) The engine was installed from the bottom at the factory anyway.

Then I did my friend 1995 Accord through the bottom and didn't have any problems. On an 1995 you have to remove the from sub frame.

A civic is a different story.

The trick is to take off the front to back support member so you can drop the engine down enough to clear the transmission side mount when you lift it from the top or else you will be breaking apart the crank pulley as it bangs against the driver side chassis. So make sure the driver side is higher, then have someone push the tranny side down then lift it out. When you put it back in push the tranny side down to clear the mount then use a jack under the tranny to raise it up to line it up for the mount.
