I did this




Can buy new US made pads for it but I've never installed clutch rivets. Skip the send it to a shop thing, I am pretty much a shop just never done this task and can't find manufacturer guidelines or recommended tools.

 

Why not just buy a new clutch?

Because the pads and rivets are going to cost me $50. I live in New Zealand so shipping a whole clutch way offsets the price of a new one, local guys want about $250 for a centre like this. It's done like 150 miles.

 

Ok the the wholesaler of the clutch pads said use an anvil, lol oldschool as hell.

Anyway I'm ordering the stuff tomorrow, hope like hell it can hold the horsepower I want to make.

 

How are you going to make sure its balanced? The rivets might throw it off, and your clutch will shake.

 

Magic midgets called oompa loompas work for me and do the rest

I'm replacing all the rivets, also handy with a lathe and whatnot, just not rivets

 

For the record I tried a few things cause I was all "pffffft anvil lulz"

Turns out you should just use an anvil and a couple different peening punches if you're an at home guy. A whole workshop full of awesome tools and I use an anvil, goddamn I hate reality sometimes. I just made a jig to hold the clutch on a dolly kinda thing I made of an old flywheel bolt and it worked awesome

As a sidenote the old pads were just flying to pieces, factory defect on the right hand side by the looks causing delamination. The USA made ones don't have the same issue in the slightest. Better I find this now than in the car at 9000rpm though
