Firecracker odor in car
This might sound like a dumb questiin but... Does anyone know a specific reason as to why there would be a strong smell of burning(almost smells like firecrackers) in my car when i rev up into vtec territory... Whether im flooring it or not... Any ideas?
I have to agree, the smell you describe is that of sulfur and is primarily caused by a clogged catalytic converter that is burning up....Would highly recommend deleting the cat or replacing with a new one....clogged cats can start fires very easily.
Ok i well definetly jump on anew cat. Especially if its a potential firehazard. Would a clogged cat also be the possible cause for some light smoke making it thru the exhaust or a slight loss of power?

Clogged cat will definitely cause lack of power. Surprised it hasn't tripped a 0420 code yet.
Remember, in California you need a cali certified cat. I know it sounds dumb, but I've seen seafoam break up the gunk long enough to let people keep driving a bit before replacing the cat. The cat will definitely need to be replaced if it is that bad but I would give it a nice seafoam through the brake booster hose.

Thanks for that input, i know it feels like its bein held back. I think im just gona throw a test pipe on there for now until i can get a new cat, ive got a real quiet amd stock looking exhaust so i dont think it will be too loud. Thanks man!
