IL FS: 92 EG turbo hatch/ 10 second car!
1992 Honda Civic DX hatchback built to race with a turbo. Over $10,000 went into this project, built tuned, and raced by me and my personal friend.
The basics behind this build was taking a completely rust free hatchback from Miami FL, and building it to run in the 10's. The shell is still rust free, always stored inside. It's been in Chicago for about 3 years only but never driven in rain or snow and stored inside a garage. The body is not perfect, it has dings here and there. The main body was painted championship white, while the roof was left factory paint, along with the front bumper. The roof was going to be done in carbon fiber, just never got there. The front bumper is the original and its beat up but works fine as is. Like I said, the car was built to race and it is a street and track terror.
I will include a couple of youtube videos. One showing the car running 11 seconds flat at 126 mph. The other of it idling just to show the current condition.
The best times this civic ran with it's current turbo set up, was a 10.7 at 135 mpg on slicks. I do not have that video. I lost a lot of stuff when my computer crashed. I may be able to get dyno sheets, but the best it ran on the dyno was 400 hp to the wheels, putting the estimated crank power at near 450 hp.
Engine is out of a low mileage 2001 gsr b18c1. Motor red lines at 9300 rpms, tuned to run 93 octane fuel. Cp pistons and Crower valve train, Cometic headgasket. Quaife lsd. GSR 5 speed trans built tough with a stage 5 clutch less than 800 miles ago. Turbonetics t3 56,63. Boosting at about 12 psi right now, ran on 17psi in the video. Full Thermal catback. Full suspension gsr. Front and rear GSR disc brakes, stops on a dime! Full wire tuck and brake tuck. HID headlight kit. Wideview rear-view mirror. Seats from a 96-99 civic. Turbo timer. Battery cut out switch on hatch. JDM corners in front and JDM tail lights in back. AEM fuel rail. Fluidyne radiator. Edelbrock Victor intake. Hasport mounts. Seat belt harness support bar. SI cluster with 9k rpm. Custom ram horn header. Catch can. ETC.
Too much to list. Compression was tested within the last 200 miles and was still strong. Civic was tuned about a year ago last and driven lightly during the last year. I just have no use anymore and no time to drive it.
Like I said it was built to race and it's scary fast, video proves that. There are some flaws here and there. Hood linkage is rough, it works but rough. Hood is carbon fiber but the clear cracked and needs to be sanded and re cleared or replaced. Windshield trim missing. Carpet is not in the civic. No radio, no windshield wipers. No heater. No fenderwell liners.
Rims are Rota 10s. Front tires are BFG drag radials about 60%. rears are Kumho, about 70% or more.
I do have a full carpet in black included with the car and I think I have a spare windshield trim. No spare tire. Battery is in the back.
This civic is not a toy. It requires an experienced skilled driver. It's a blast to drive and can dominate street racing. Just be aware it is sold as is. It could drive across the country today but without heat and wipers I wouldn't recommend it.
Here is a video of the civic running 11 seconds flat at 126 mph.
