Default Oil Light stay On and is not the engine (Accord 1996)

Hi guys,

Well, I am here because of you, lol. I bought a honda accord EX 1996 4 doors with 200k miles 5 speed, but the cars is still good,
100% stock. I get this car for a project and transportation.

The reason why I am writing is simple, I need help about a problem with the oil light, but don't think
in advance that the problem is the engine, let me explain;

The car didn't start and I tried to find out what happen, I said, it is not the battery, I checked the starter, but it wasn't either,
I went to check the ignition swich and when I try to play around with the wires trying to "hotwire" it, you know trying to start
it without keys, I made a little short circuite and here started my problem

After this little short circuite, the oil light, the defroster light stay on and the wiper motor stay workin.

The car now start because I change the cluth swich that was bad, but now all this light saty on and the wiper stay working

I know this problem is not easy (for me) to solve but here I know someone must know about this.

Alex

I almost forgot, also the noise that the honda has when you still have the keys in the ignition switch indicating are there, is now lower (the sound) than before

It could be a bad ground. Bad grounds can cause all sorts of electrical problems.

But since it was when you were trying to hotwire it it is probebly wires getting grounded in the steering column.

Thanks curtie94.
yes, is what I thought, caz when that happened I smelled burned wires but I've taken out all the wires are there, even the fuse panel, and I've not found nothing until now. I thought than could be a relay.
I am afraid to drive the car like that because the oil light bother me, this light gave me nerves what can happen.
Any other suggestion????

Did you take note of which wires you crossed when you did this?
You weren't actually cutting wires were you? Or were you just guessing by crossing wires?

Alex
Possibly did some damage to the combination switch and fried a board. Disconnect the wiper switch and see if that prevents the wipers from activating.

Was just guessing wires, the plug that I was playing, was one that has 4 little wires, and are located on the top of the key switch Number 9 here;

Where is that combination switch to check it, but remember everything else is still working

The combination switch is not fried because everything is working.
I am following the line to find what else could be grounded before a fuse, so, I don't understand why this happened?, is not suppose to happen because everything are protected by the fuses, right?, even, it wasn't to big the short circuity, just one spark.

What else can be?????

Can anybody else help me with this????

That is the worst way to go about electrical systems hopefully you have learned NOT to do that again.
