If you want boost, turbo the F22 you have now. I'd replace the rings on the H22 if you're going to turbo it because factory rings sucks when boosted. Throw in a set of Mahle pistons and new rings and you should be good to go.

BTW, the H22A4 from the 97+ Prelude does not have 217bhp. They're only 197bhp.

One of my pals around here had a boosted H22, but went back to the F22 because he said the F22 is more hardy boosted then the H22.

The h22a is the best route IMO. But that is with sleeves rods and pistons. It depends on how much money you are working with.

If your going to throw sleeves and pistons into it then you might as well save your money and build the F that you have, vs wasting $500-$1200 on an H block that you are going to rip apart anyway.

Tru dat. But how is the performance of the Upgraded F vs an Upgraded H?

lazy lu I would say it depends on where you live. Do you live here in sunny Calif? If so the Smog Law gods will look down upon you with favor with the install of a smog legal BAR approved swap of a '97 H22 into your '97 Accord. AFAIK there are no smog legal, EO'd/CARB approved turbo kits for this year Accord. If you live in an area where smog legality is crucial then you may want to err on the side of caution.

But 'bewst' can be addictive.

If we are talking bottom end they would be the same. With the exception that the F has the stroke advantage. They would handle the same RPM.

Go build an H head or buy a PT3 (90-91) F22A head (Direct bolt up) build it and have a better flowing head for half the price.

Oh but it doesn't have VTEC.......oh well!

Sure there is, the availability of individual intake and exhaust camshaft timing adjustment and VTEC. However, the F22A (PT3) head has an excellent port design and with a properly designed camshaft, it can be just as effective. Minus the VTEC of course. The F22B1 & 2 (P0A-P0B) series heads aren't quite as easy to work with. The port geometry doesn't flow as well.

thanks everyone i am very excited about the feedback... unfortunately i hv an automatic f22b so i was told that the f22 will support more boost also was told its better to boost the f22b vs the h22 i live in orlando florida... i want to get the biggest bang for my buck i was told that it cn boost the f22 and get more bang for my buck by just dropn a turbo from www.turbokits.com 97 honda accord lx run me 2700.00 vs spending the same amount or even more on h22 engine with manual transmission and going the manual swapp and be sitting at 217hp in the h22 stock... was also told then i have to basically rebuilt the h22 internally if i want to get more hp out of it... was told i can just drop that turbo and be around the same hp with the f22b and have the potential to get more hp out of the f22b with this turbo so that is my biggest question where will i get the most bang for my buck... just dropping the turbo in the f22b or doing the swapp with the h22

Adding a turbo is not "drop and drive". Dropping in a stock H22 swap would be more plug and play than adding a turbo............. I would suggest that you do a bit more research into what it takes to reliably build and tune a boosted Honda.

just a vtec head would be a waste of time and money. A turbo setup is the way to go but then you need a lot more stuff and a bigger budget!!
