I have a 96 Civic with a b18c1 swap.
The car is lowered, and i have rear camber kit, no front.

I recently went from the OEM to the rims in the picture. The car makes lot of tire noise now. I figured it would be because of the new tires. The OEM ones made slight noise but not as bad as these.

I got a wheel alignment because the car used to pull right before and after the new rims. Car still pulls slightly to the right not as bad as before. I went out on a drive in the highway and when speeds above 50mph the car feels unstable and pulls to the right slightly. Feels like i need to hold the steering wheels with both hands at all time instead of just cruising.

These are my readings for the car alignment that i got back from goodyear.
FL Camber = -1.7 FR Camber= -1.2



Could the excessive tire noise and instability at high speeds be due to the negative camber in the front? Would i need to get front camber kits to fix this?

 

If you got your car aligned and it's still pulling there are only two explanations:

1) Your alignment sucked.

OR

2) You have severely damaged suspension components.

 

So the camber wouldn't have anything to do with the pull or tire noise and i should focus look closely at my suspension components?

 

I think the alignment would have rectified any issues with your camber-if it was able.

Sure, if they're defective. That doesn't happen often, however.

For that matter, so do strong winds, passenger assist steering, and inebriation.

 

Well thats why i was wondering if the camber offset of -1.7 on the front lefft and -1.3 on the front right would make the car still pull to the right slightly. On the paper is says specified ranged would be between -1.0 and 1.0 and im off by a few degrees on both.

Shouldn't they have made both of them the same if they couldnt get into the specified range?

 

No, cars have varying camber for varying reasons. Bushing condition may vary in suspension components across the suspension geometry. My camber is .2* different on either side. Not really a big deal. It will NOT make the car pull. If anything, all it will do is cause the car to have a slightly different level of traction on an off camber turn than the opposing side on a similar turn.

Camber is much more important with regard to its effect on the active camber as opposed to the constant camber (in a straight line)

Some tires are just noisy.

My friend's worn tires would always pull to the right.

Also, are you sure the road is level where you're testing it?

 

Were they noisy before the alignment? Or are they new? Some tires are just noisy.

 

Also make sure your axle nuts are torqued properly if you changed an axle recently...previous owner of my car didn't stake down the nut and it was barely torqued down, which resulted in a bad wheel bearing in the front.

 

cars are also suppose to pull alittle mostly to the right... if you fall sleep at the wheel its suppose to pull the car off the road and hopefully wake you up.

Even new cars will pull alittle

 

Tires are like new, no visible wear on them. I have to check the axle nut this upcoming week. A friend of mine did tell me it might be the wheel bearings. And yeah they were noisy before and after the alignment

Yep, some tires are just noisy. Check the aforementioned things. Also, most roads in the US bow up, they have a crest in the center for better drainage, so it's normal to coast slightly to the right in these instances.

 

are all your tires the same size? all brand new tires right? matching tires?

 

I like to rule out the brakes first. It seems easiest to me.

3) Inspect the front brakes. make sure that there is no abnormal wear (more on one side of the car than other or more on one pad -inboard/outboard than the other) and check for sticking caliper slides. If the slides don't move like they should, confirm that the dust boots are in good shape before relubing. You can check the rear brakes too, the effect of the front on steering is more pronouced so I usually focus on that.

I took my car to my local mech that i been going to for past few years and i trust. The rims and tires are both messed up. The front left rim wobbles a lot and the back left wobbles a little. We took the rims off and put it on that machine that balances it to make sure and they're done for. As for the tires making the noise, all 4 tires even though brand new by few months have mountains in them. It's what he calls them. I guess theyre bubbles
