Icon2 Tachometer not reading correctly, someone help?

So i recently did a cluster swap on my 95 cx hatch and i used it and it worked well, but all of a sudden the tach wasnt reading correctly and would redline at 4000 instead of 6800, it still reads, but just doesnt seem to be correct.

So now i tried revving it a bit and i saw the battery light flash when it got a little higher in rpms, could this be my alternator going on me, and just not giving enough current to the cluster? because my speedo still works.

What happens when you put the old cluster back in the car?

Sometimes an alternator that is not charging correctly will make your gauges go crazy.

well the reason i changed the cluster was so that i have a tachometer, kinda sucks without one, so everything works fine just not the tack, i already checked the distributor wires and everything that leads there. it all seems to be in working order, except for the tachometer

Then have the alternator checked.
