I have a 1999 Honda Accord EX and it has power windows. Suddenly one of the power windows has stopped going down and when i press the button, i just get a click sound on the passenger side window, but it does not go down.

Additionally the driver side window, while going down, makes a grinding sound which is kind of scary.

Please tell me what may be the issue ??

 

Just back from Firestone and they charge a freaking 99$ just to check one door. This is expensive.
What other options to get this thing checked and fixed ??

 

replace the window regulators AND motors. they are notorious for being bad now after 20 years of usage.
