Default 1991 Civic Si Brake Booster

My pedal for my brakes is really soft and I've been told numerous times it's my brake booster. Wheel Works wants 250 to refurbish it. My questions is are they any other cars in the junkyard i could just pull this off, or any ef civic cause my PnP doesnt have very many Si's.

just about any civic/ integra booster will bolt in but you have to use the booster and MC. you might (not on all MC's) have to re-bend some of the hard line to the other side and maybe a bigger connecting bolt but it'll work.

google's should be your best friend, i just found this info out in 2 mins lol

have you tried bleeding the brakes?

typically too soft =air in lines or a bad master cylinder...too hard= bad brake booster....i've never heard of too soft being a bad booster...i could be wrong though my ase cert's are worthless

^^^ You are correct - when you think about it how could a bad booster EVER make the brakes soft? It's never going to have "more" vacuum than it should - only less. Since it is an air over hydraulic braking system (power assist), it uses vacuum to make the brake pedal easier to depress. So if the booster fails, it makes the brake pedal harder to press down and nothing else.

Think about it - it's ALL common sense...

ASE certifications are worthless... You can not have a mechanical bone in your body and still be able to pass the tests. Of course to become a Master Technician with the hands on tests it's a different story... but a blind man can do it - unfortunately being a real mechanic has gone out the door like so many good things. The only way most "mechanics" can diagnose something now is if their computer tells them there is a problem. People have lost all logic and reasoning - to be able to listen and see what it's doing and know what's wrong. Since I am awesome - I have those skills. Also, I have never missed or have I been late in paying my bills.
