Default Transmission Flush

How often do u do a transmission flush and flushes in general? I have a 2001 accord and was wondering when should i do it and where to get it done. Also when should the brakes be changed?

Honda has pretty long lasting brakes... I had my first set for 70K (no autox or anything like that) My mom has a 98 EX-V6 and I "change" the tranny fluid every other oil change. It's very easy and you can easily do it yourself. Not sure if your Accord is an EX if it is the brakes are even easier (well less mess anyhow). BTW The v-6 Auto her brakes went around 50K or so.

P.S. forgot to say why I do it so often. I've heard that Honda Auto trannys can be a bit troublesome, so I figured the more changes the better, Plus when you "change" the fluid you are only really taking out a part of the whole amount, so in order to get a true change it would take several drain/refill procedures to get to a clean change. Honda has a machine that the hook up that sucks out ALL the fluid but I figure why spend the extra cash on them when I can do this myself.

I do a trannie fluid filter change every 10k. I think I'm pretty **** about it, but I think this is also an area where people let it slide. I want to see how long I can keep the auto trannie in before a rebuild/replace. Hot and often, just like oil changes can never hurt. Don't foget the differential too.

The brakes usually have a brake pad wear sensor (I know you know this), but you can always pull the tires off and inspect yourself. Biggest mistake people do is wait to hear a noise, or see a brake light, then still drive for a week or two. I never understood this. Then it's more $$ by the time they bring it in.

honda automatic trannies are drain and fill. If they charge you more than ~$50 you are getting ripped off. 30,000 mile intervals are fine.

Per the Honda dealer the V-6 tranny filter is way far up in the transmission and it's a life of the car type of deal. THey would have to crack open the tranny to do it. If you do a lot of stop and go, and you think you push your car I'd say that 30K isn't enough. It's cheap to change so why not be safe rather than sorry.

until you flush out the tranny fluid, you dont know whats in that thing. when i did my first tranny fluid change its cause my tranny started acting funny, it would overrev when im in d4 then all of a sudden accelerate like im flooring it. i asked my friend, a honda machanic, and he told me to change out the fluid. i did what he said and my fluid was pure black...no resemblance what so ever to the new fluid you put in...thats how dirty it was. that solved my problem and he recommend me do it every 15000 miles after that
