acura newbie here, have a question plz.
So its finally happened, I have bit the bullet and bought a honda of sorts, which I swore to myself that this day will never come. Well its an acura so I feel a bit better about it lol. K all joking aside, I bought this 99 TL with a known couple issues, 1) needs ac compressor, 2) and has or had an overheating problem. My question is, has anyone had an overheating problem from a faulty belt tensioner. Yesterday I removed what seemed to be a large air pocket in the cooling system, refilled the system and drove it around gently and WOT a couple times to try and get it to overheat, but it stayed right in the middle. No white smoke and no oil in the collant and vice versa. Water pump, and radiator have less then 60K and thermostat is brand new. Fans are hot wired. When I turned the car off I randomly looked at the tensioner and it seems if the tensioner is loose and I felt the pulley (engine off of course), and it was searing hot, damn near left me a blister just touching it, so I'm thinking the pulley bearing is shot and causing extra drag on the accessories. Any thoughts? Thanx
Hey there jdmc, idk if you're new to forums, I am new to this specific forum. But your post in the form of inquiry in my thread is considered thread jacking and is unacceptable. If you have a question, search first, then post a thread with your question if your search turned up nothing.
