Default 3m headlight renewal kit product review

Well I bought this product today from harbour freight tools for 20 bucks. I have just recently purchased a 2001 gsr integra that had black painted tail lights. Since I'm gonna be driving this car to work and it has to pass inspection I needed the paint gone. Well I took some advice from a friend and wet sanded the lights with 220 grit sand paper then 500 grit and 1000grit, all done by hand. Well I had this renewal kit that I thought was just a polishing kit but it had sand paper in it as well so I took out the 800 grit disk and did a once over of the lights. I then took the 3000 grit disk and ran over the lights like directed. Now the lights look good but I had to use the final step with the rubbing compound and foam disk. I could not believe the shine that this left behind. These lights look brand new and I can not wait to try his product on my headlights as well. I would recommend this to anyone with dull or painted lights. On to the pics.

Before anything was done.

After hand sanding.

Back on the car after compound.

I will take more pictures when I take the "eyelids" off the headlights.

I decided to go ahead and do the low beams to see what it will look like before I take off the eyelid paint. This product is amazing. I followed the directions to a "T" and this is what they looked like after compared to the high beams.

Just make sure you wax your headlights and tailights... because after all that sanding (or even yellowing from the elements) they lose their UV protection... so u gota protect them somehow continuously... most people get them re-cleared too

The kit comes with a protectant that you use as the last step. It's a rubbing compound.

i sand mine with 600 til all the imperfections are out of them, then reclear, you can also tint the clear with a few drops of whatever color base coat youd like. or just wet sand and buff.

3M kit straight sucks. Wash the car a few times and let us know how you feel about their product. Best solution to fixing hazy lights is to sand and spray a new clear coat on them

I need to do this to my 2K civic as the headlights do nothing at night. How do I know if it is external lens or internal lens issue?

same car, same problem... I sanded and polished them and it looked good for a few months, then the haziness came back. Then I just replaced them... but I also had a some broken tabs which is why I didnt just reclear them.
