Default My 92si HB B16a2 Project thread...

Wassup Honda tech.. I been searching for info on suspension an was drawn to this site.. Thought Id share what im working with and get some opinons and constructive criticism..
I picked up a Clean title 92si HB with a Stock B16 in it. Car looks completely stock an it runs great..This is NOT my DD. I am Modding it for the TRACK!
I really wanna keep it looking stock..I luv having the OEM sleeper..
IM new to the Honda scene so please bare with me if i ask stupid questions. Ive modded Bmw's for years and am on e90post and bimmerforums as a really respected member. So I plan on doing the same here and being a great asset to your community..

Car came with Tokico blue and skunk 2 coil sleeves on oem wheels/tires. I ran the "streets" ok on em but I really want to get a better suspension. So any suggestions would be appreciative..and links to spring rates as well....

So over the past month or so ive dumped some pennies into an bought some stuff...I want quality stuff not garbage so please dont recommend low end products to me.. Id rather pay more and get it right the first time around...Although I will research the cheapest price for the part wether it takes a week or two i dun care..

Heres some pics.. MODS To Date..
Super RARE--ADVAN Comp model wheels
Toyo r888 205/50/15 tires
5zigen 4-1 header.
HKS Hi-power exhaust.
Megan test pipe.
s2k Comptech intake (off a wrecked 2k)
CHROME Fuel Management program
EBC sport Rotors Front/Rear
EBC Yellow pads Front/Rear
Russel SS Brake Lines

Get a buffer and buff the car with rubbing compound, then polishing compound, then hand wax and it will look brand new. That paint looks very neglected yet still salvageable. As for brake lines, I dont think there will be much of a difference between brands, just look for ones that are the right price for you and are a well-known brand and/or offer a warranty. Luckily you already have rear disc brakes, I would suggest new rotors and upgraded pads for the rear and maybe run Acura Legend calipers in the front, which is what I am considering for my eg. They are two-piston calipers, relatively cheap since they are OEM parts so quality should not be an issue and they let you run a 11 inch rotor.

^^ Ya the paint is really bad so i nicknamed it Pinky.. I cant complain though I got the whole car for super cheap.. Yes a day of buffing it im sure I can bring it back Ive actually got all the high end detailing products and tools too. Ive already done a spot on the roof and the door an its like night and day differnce..I was thinking about getting one of those 1daypaint.com jobs. Ive seen a few come out ok and its just a track car..

Thanks for the info that sounds like a great idea im sure I could actually pick up the calipers for super cheap.. Is there a DIY thread on the conversion? or is it pretty straightforward?

This is where I read about the brake swap http://www.hondatuningmagazine.com/t...kes/index.html

The pictures give you a step-by-step, and they install SS brake lines too.

In that article they had to re-drill the rotors, I think theres other 11" rotors that are already 4x100 but Im not sure. I know there are a few threads on this site about legend calipers

For suspension I'll say I love my ground control/ koni setup and you can get a deal through H-T. For the brakes I love my wilwood 4 pot calipers with the 11" upgrade. Your rear discs are good enough and I'd listen to the other guys that said just change the rotors and pads and you'll be set

I hear you man, if you find a good product then go with it, let is know how they ride. I got my wilwoods from jhpusa.com and they were on sale for 560 (plus $40 for wilwood ss brake lines) the ebc pads and ss lines will be a good start, but if your taking this car to the track enough then I'd say the bbk is a must do, you'll love the stopping power after that!

i have a apexi n1 on my rsx type S.. its a ncie exhaust but it rusted out way before my hks hipower exhaust. it rusted out the canister and axle back after about 5 years and my hks hipower is prob almost 10 yrs old with no harsh signs of rust. goodluck with the build. looks good so far

from what ive read u dont want any 500lb spring rate in the rear if its a daily it will beat the hell out of u, but if u dont mind the discomfort u can. id go with a something near 450f/380r lb spring rate . better to buy a coil over with a damper built in the shock to adjust the rebound of the shock.

Tagging this for future reference. I can't wait to follow your build.

I'm looking for an older Civic myself but considering a more street friendly build but nothing over-the-top. I am a member of E46Fanatics so I feel you on the forum jump. Good luck!

Thx.. Im on E46fanatics an e90post.. ADHDE90..lol. I hardly go on nemore since i dont have my e90 anymore e36 is my DD..

The build is coming along great.. last few weeks ive got the EBS brake Rotor/Pad/Line UPgrade installed. I was waiting almost two months for the Apexi exhaust and just decided to suck it up and spend a little more on the HKS hipower.
I found some Toyor888 for sale online as well so I got a set of those..
I need to find a couple of race seats next.. Im thinking i may just get a pair of BRIDE REPLICAs.. Any opinons on Replica Seats??
