alternator wont fit? b16a swap into ef hatch
hey guys im just wrapping up the b16a swap into my 91 hatch. I got the motor and trans in, and had the alternator off when i dropped it in. Now i go to put the alternator on and it seems like i have to hammer a dent in the subframe so it will allow me to fit it on? any help is appreiciated.
You have to hammer a dent in the frame rail right next to where the oval hole is or it wont fit in. You have to do it with any b series swap in a usdm ed civic.
Yup, your supposed to dent the frame before you swap in the motor. I have heard people say that they got away with using a smaller belt, but I cannot confirm this as I just dented my frame for clearence
Only a few ways around it: dent the frame rail, notch and reweld patch panel on frame rail, use a 3 rib pulley (sometimes yay sometimes nay)... In my opinion - just hammer it in already...
thanks guys, i hammered it in to clear the pulley on the alternator, worked out fine. and the swap is up and running now, just gotta mount the rad and throw in the axles and its test drive time
