I have a honda accord 1992 lx and Im having problems with the rpms, once i stop completetly at a light the rpms are going up and down, I have change map sensor but didn´t work, once i disconnect the map sensor the car runs fine but check engine light comes on, please help.

First, make sure that the cooling system is properly filled. There is a thermally activated Fast Idle valve mounted to the intake manifold which can cause this problem. There can be NO AIR in the coolant system - nothing! If that doesn;t calm things down then (Yes!) determine what the ECM is saying to you via the CEL Lamp. Although I've caught them lying (from time to time) Honda computers are preety good at self-diagnosing the system.....

thanks for your help, when i bought the car it was in a yunk yard, they changed the motor and manual transmission, i didn´t notice but a few months back the Fast Idle valve was blocked w. a stick. I will checked out and come back, thanks.
