Default Help removing unwanted paint

I have a bumper from a car that slid up against a painted white concrete pillar. I need to remove the white paint but leave the bumper as is since there is no real physical damage. I haven't had to do this before so I just wanted to know what the best way.

I figure this should be really easy but I'd rather begin with a foreknowledge than not.

If the paint on the car is original, urethane factory (or really any good quality urethane paint):
1) Buy a small can of lacquer thinner.
2) Rub the lacquer thinner on the spot. Use a soft cloth so as not to scratch your paint. The paint (if it is enamel or latex) should be disolved by the lacquer thinner while the paint on your car remains intact (urethane is not dissolved by lacquer thinner.)
3) If this doesn't work, go buy some 1500 and 2000 grit sandpaper, and some meguiars ultimate compound.
4) Wet sand your spot, using your 1500 grit, a soft block (or your hand, if you must) and lots of water from a spray bottle. It is good to soak your paper for a minute or two prior to wetsanding and also to put a drop or two of soap in your squirter for added lubrication.
5) Once the majority of the concrete paint has been removed, step up to 2000 grit sandpaper. Just light passes, but be sure to remove all 1500 grit scratches.
6) Once you have removed 99%-100% of the paint, take a soft shammy and go over the entire sanded area by hand using meguiars ultimate compound. It will take a while, but it should remove all the 2000 grit scratches without too much effort.
7) Optional- finish up with ultimate polish and a good wax.

But you probably will be fine just using lacquer thinner. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Haha alright I'll give it a shot. I got to find a camera because I'd like to take before and after pictures.

Be careful with the magic eraser. I have seen it do series damage to clearcoats.

Check this thread:

Problem was eventually fixed by buffing but it makes me nervous nonetheless.
