Default question for ECHC (Integras and Hybrids) conteststants

wondering about you guys who have integras and hybrids that dont really have a NASA or SCCA class to race with. did you guys seriously put your rollcages in JUST to compete in ECHC or were gonna do it anyway cuz youre just that crazy for HPDE? do you guys have other racecars that are actually legal in other events an have actual racing experience that way and also built up another car just for ECHC? just curious, to see if i should expect others in the west to do so just for a WCHC.

H3 GSRs run in ITS and PS1 (I think)
H1 cars run in ITE and SU2

Yes I did put a cage in my car so I could run the Honda-Challenge and yes I took my car off the road and made it a trailer queen for the Honda-Challenge.

I was already in the process of building it. ECHC just came along at the right time.

Same here, I always wanted to race, and ECHC provided the best oportunities..

It wouldn't surprise me. I would suspect that any initial following would be people like us who are (or will be) running SCCA legal cars who would be in H3 or H4 (or whatever). That's the benefit of having a SCCA legal car, since you can pretty much run everything. However, if you consider the investment that is necessary to start WTW racing in a car that's already built (personal safety equip and consumables being the biggest), spending $6-700 for a cage is nothing.

What I don't understand is the people who build a hybrid for the ECHC when you know it's only legal for that series. Maybe that's because I'm used to those cars not being legal for anything here, so I'm more focused on what's legal locally.

yea it SUCKS not having a class to race in if your a hybrid. I really wanted to do a hybrid and race in somthing but after doing research. there is nothing i can compete in. i would only get my *** handed to me.

I think its time for scca/nasa to redo the whole classing thing or hybrids.
i mean, there not THAT fast.

Ditto! I was already preparing it as my new SOLO1 car, and eventually maybe SCCA IT.

No secret but,

I just paid big coin for a hybird ECHC specific car! Yes, it maybe a bastard child with the SCCA, but I have done SCCA and have very little interest in returning.

FYI -( I spent in the range of 1996-98 quality Formula Ford, Spec Racer Ford, American Sedan or above average ITA-ITS car)

WHY?

1. I like the way Nasa make me feel like a 'customer' not as a non-important member of a 50K plus club. Chris C. - NASA Va Region maybe the best race director I have ever met.

2. I currently drive 10 hours plus to race with this group. SCCA races are all over the NE with-in 4 hours.

This is how much I think the H-C will be successful.

I'm looking forward to kicking a lot of WCHC A$$ at the first Honda-Challenge Run-offs! If they can hold up their end.

Mine was already caged since early 1999. I did buy all the safety shizzle (suit, killswitch, etc) just for ECHC.

I don't have a whole lot desire (yet) to go ITS. I'd have to add a whole lot of weight to the car, and spend a whole lot of money, in order to be competitive. And it's also got illegal rear control arms and illegal pimp-daddy turn signal brake ducts.

Not sure if people will build cars strictly for a WCHC. It seems to me that you guys have a lot more sanctioning bodies that give "SCCA Orphans" a place to play than we do.
