Ok so i have been wanting to have a boosted civic for year or two now and after having a few setbacks im finally getting everything ready to be sent to machine shop and piece together or buy a turbo kit.

For my build i will be using a GSR b18c1 block specs as follows:
81.5mm bore
hot tanked/cleaned
polished/balanced crank
CP 9.8:1
Manley rods
ARP hardware
Cometic headgasket 81.5mm

and for the head b16a:
Cold tanked/cleaned
multiangle valvejob
Supertech springs/retainers

Nice set up!

 

Replace the guides with bronze guides, if the stock break from a valve tweaking ofr bending the break and take out pistons/turbo. if you have bronze guides they bend with the valve

go with the Cp pistons, from my experience the weisco dont hold up as well, spring lma's work well

 

I like the wiseco's myself. hold up fine from my experience.

 

Im not saying they dont hold up at all, but ive seen them come apart on a build i did with my buddy, no detonation on the motor at all and the pistons came apart on 400whp on pump gas, never had that issue with the cp's we replaced the weisco with. its possible we got a bad batch

The type of turbo will depend on when you want to spool and whether you are going to want to increase the boost later. The best way to determine which turbo is right for you is to do some math and look at some compressor maps.

If it were my car, I would probably go with something close to a T3/T4 50 trim or 57 trim. Just make sure to buy a turbo that is efficient at the boost level you're looking to attain.

 

Maps are just the beginning of understanding the turbocharger needed. Its like looking at a cube from one side; all you see is the first square. Look to other setups on H-T to get a better idea as to what you're looking for in terms of power, use, and fitment, and go from there. Compressor maps help with the theoretical but not always the actual result.

i wouldnt mind full till 4500ish, would think it would be better for daily driving less stress on motor constantly?

 

GT3076R!! Look up some type r motors with these turbos on YouTube. You'll like em..and try to get some itr cams!

So i think i found the turbo im interested in. the garrett t3/t04e 57 trim with .63ar turbine. my question is, what size injectors would be best for this at say 11psi hopefully 325whp ish. and would a hondata map sensor be needed?

 

A 4-bar map sensor is only needed if you go above 11psi. You'd be better off with a smaller turbo with more boost. 18psi on a 50trim & 4bar MAP will be faster than a 57trim at 11 psi. Notice I said faster, not max out higher.

 

if thats the poor mans build id hate to see that list if u had deep pockets lol, i make 300 and i did it for 2000 bucks but now that i want more im going to have address alot of things so my advice would be to do your whole list because as soon as u get to 3 you'll want 4 and so on, if i were to do it again i would build the motor for 500 hp which is about what the stock sleeves can handle. imho i think 400 is the sweet number for the tegs and with your list you can reach that no prob without hurting it. the turbo you'll have to really research what your after, THESHODAN can really help u pick that out if you explain exactly what u want it to do he is full of technical data. as for your injectors i would skip the 450s and go with 750s. my 450s are running at about 80% duty cycle right now, im at 10 psi making 300, ive seen guys especially dsm guys run these things at 100% but i would not even attempt that, u do not want an injector locking up on u at a high rpm and full boost so this is one area i would not cheap out on. btw i have a 50 trim and im quite pleased with it (for now lol)

 

great turbo, YES. poor mans build, not so much lol.

 

getting some 650cc injectors, havent decided on turbo yet really looking at the 2 i named. and with these injectors and either turbo i can do 400hp. so with lower boost for now im really only aiming for 325ish now. sure more later but gotta start somewhere for first time going boost lol

 

before i thnk about 400+ i want to get some headwork, intake manifold, and bigger tb. probably would also need a 3in exhaust. running 2.5 now.

 

I used the T3/T04E 57 trim on my first setup I had before I cracked a sleeve. I also had a poorman's setup close to yours but with a little higher compression. I had full boost at about 4000-4200 rpms. I made 374 at 17 pounds, but I also had a cast manifold and a catalytic convertor. I had some restrictions.

 

cool, i keep changing my mind about how much boost to run. im thinking 12-14 now lol

 

The amount of boost does not really matter what does matter is how much power you want to male
