Default dealing with smog with chipped ecu question

i know for 1995 and older i could chip the ecu on the integra and tuned and passed smog no issues

im going to pick up a 1996 integra and eventually put some bolt ons carb approved and chip ecu and get it tuned but im pretty sure it wont pass smog.

Can I just get another ecu and use that for chipping and then put the stock one back for smog only?

what are others doing???

any suggestions i can get a deal on a 1996 newer one thats why im getting that and also carb legal turbo kit is for newer integra

Good luck with that.
The Greddy CARB legal kit doesn't have an intercooler, and isn't legal once you add one, so it's very limiting.

As long as your chipped ECU functions properly, you should be able to pass with it. If you're in Cali (assumption based on the need for a CARB approved parts), only 2000+ cars are hooked up to the port scanner. I have no clue on other states though.

I would just swap in a stock ecu for smog
And OBD2 cars get checked for codes and rediness which is 96+

i would just go have it re chipped befor you go to emissions and make sure you have a cat. i put my cat in and put stock injectors in when i go and i am on e85 but i pass evert time its a pain but whatever do what you have to do. Never heard of a smog turbokit lol

I thought all obd2 cars are hooked up to the port scanner? If that wasn't then case then 96-99 models wouldn't have a problem converting to obd1 and passing smog.

yeah thats why i think i would have to use another ecu because from what i know 96 which is obd2 they plug into the port so if you are chipped you fail is what ive been told.

if i bought another ecu i would run it for a while before smogging it. i would prob keep stock ecu and buy a chipped one.

has anyone else done it that way???
