Default psud3ity's oh hai honda-tech thread

Hey guys, Guess it's finally time I show up on here.

Had the prelude since May of 2008 with a 48 month loan; 2000 Base model purchased used from a Honda dealership. I'm alot more active on ************ and I do see some familiar names, but I'm finally starting to make my way over here.

Might want to grab a sandwich for this one... Gonna be lots of stuff here, Ive got about three years to catch you guys up on. Either way, here's the car back in 05/2008...

I took that picture literally 5 minutes after I pulled into my driveway for the first time.

Anyway, so... driving to work on route 80 about two weeks later, I "nicked" a deer. I wasn't going slow, but somehow I managed to just barley touch the thing, the only damage was the front passenger side fender was bent inwards right at the front, breaking the headlight.

So, new headlights. And yes, If i get hell from car forums about anything, it's my headlights. (Haters gonna hate, could care less. my car, i dig em)

Got me an AEM V2 (freebie)... and then the money pit really started.

Apexi WS2

Met a few friends along the way, some pics from the KOP prelude meet from way back

Alright, so lets go back for a minute. I did put my sound system from my old car in there, wasn't all the greatest gear, but I've upgraded several times, the system i'm gonna keep mostly out of this thread, unless I decide to update it later. The picture isn't really of the crappy double din head unit I had lying around. I want to do a reinstall and upgrade some things soon so I'll save it for another thread.

But basically,

Some of you will recognize that shift ****, and know exactly what happens next. The SS auto decides to take a dump... In the middle of February 2010. It picked a really great time.

So I get the car towed, and the story is long. I'm not retyping it but I'll post the link **Mods feel free to edit if linking outside the forum is a no no**
http://www.************.com/forums/s...d.php?t=327972

So... swap that bitch!

The trans I put in was out of a 4th gen USDM prelude. M2F4... transmission was in awful shape when I got it, and awful shape when it went in, but it worked, had a slight grind in 5th. Whatever, back on road, and the trans had an LSD in it... still don't know which one.

Next big turning point in the prelude saga was of course, some idiot backing into me in a Ford explorer. Happened at a gas station. Either way, insurance company ended up paying for a new CF hood, new bumper, and yet another set of headlights.

Random upgrade....

Oh wait, it's spring? Time for wheels and tires, excuse the 4x4 status. 17x8 +35 Konig Lace

Either way, car payments and minor fixes, until one day when my crank pulley bolt works its way out. Put it back in, and started to notice the motor now liked to drink oil. Not sip... 3 quarts a week. Great. Also, 5th gear grind is now ultra-sketchy-5th gear.

Called steve at hmotorsonline. Spent money. Steve is a great guy and i wouldn't buy a motor from anyone else... ever. So clean, great shape... absolutley love it.

Also talked to importRP and got some other supplies for the journey...

I'll just let pictures do the talking from here.

So, motor swap done. Off to the dyno for the baseline...

Results:

Stock H22a, 35,000 miles +/- AEM V2, Apexi WS2, no cat.

9/1/11 - Sent in last payment on car.

10/2011 - WWRS front and sides back from paint shop.

So that's where i'm at now. I'm saving for boost. Thanks for taking a look guys.

Amazes me how much time/energy people spend taking/posting and typing the narration pics of their rides.....
You may have more pics here than I have of my car after 13yrs.......
Thanks for sharing?!.....
The picture of the parts to be installed reminds me of 90% of the builds that never happened over the years. Not saying YOU, but it seems like people did it to brag, which seems silly b/c years later they were for sale Unused in the classifieds........
I remember my last car payment in 2003 though.....Great feeling to know there was another $300/mo around for modding!

I love this car!

I've seen it on the other forum, not many aero kits look good on a 'lude, but yours seems to work real well!

Welcome to H-T!

Haha so true! I think I took a bunch of pics of my car the first 3-4 years I owned it, but not many since. I did take a bunch of pics in the process of building my engine as well, and a couple in the swap process, just for my friends back home, that would be working on it with me if I was still in Denver.

In any case... the car is coming along well, and looks like you enjoy it alot too! And kudos for actually doing the owrk yourself, and replacing the things that should be done, that many people skimp on!

Are you sleeving the old engine for boost?

Yeah i've seen those f/s threads too. I figured I'm keeping this car basically forever, until the frame is too rotted to be driven. Once i'm done with it being my "toy" it'll just end up as the daily driver. But yeah man, no car payment is definatley a relief.

Thanks man, it really appreciate hearing that. it's been alot of work.

The wings west RS kit is really kinda "color specific". I'm not particularly fond of it on red/white/silver cars, but black and EBP seem to be able to pull it off. I've always liked it but most people go for the OEM since it's "cleaner".

The old motor may see sleeves down the road, for now I'm going to be doing the stock block boost thing. Risky, I know, but I've got 100% perfect compression numbers, not even a 1-2 psi drop on cylender 3. (THANK YOU HMOTORSONLINE!!!). i'm keeping my power goal realistic (300hp, not trying for 500hp out of a stock motor), and I'm keeping the boost low. As much crankcase ventilation as possible to prevent blowby... My tuner says i can get away with 9psi without issues so long as I choose the right parts, and he is helping me do that. He's a member on here i'm 99.9% sure. His shop is literally 15 minutes from my parents house.

My commute is literally .7 miles. Not alot of wear and tear or mileage on it anymore, so that'll help as well.
