I killed my auto trannny muh ha ha
After my axle installation my tranny is not shifting past 1st gear when up to temp. I beat the crap out off it.
So I have a 1993 Accord LX. I had valvoline max life dex/merc in it. Did a cv axle installation. Used Castrol dex/merc. During the drain the fluid looked pretty brown.
I doubt that the max life will help if I try it again but I,m going to try it out.

I would put an eyeball on the Throttle valve cable which runs from the Throttle Body to the Transmission. This (along with several other contributors) controls shift points; and in extreme cases can keep it from shifting all together. I don't think it's a coincidence that this issue wasn't apparent prior to the wrench session.

when installing axles the cable does not need to be moved from what i remember.
go to honda and get some of the dw-1 auto transmission fluid. i believe thats what the new stuff is called. when i had my auto it was z1 though. never use anything but honda fluid with auto trannys. hell even on the manual trannys i stick with oem fluid.
if the tranny still does not shift right make sure you axles are not binding and locking the wheel up(wrong axle). does it act like its jumps to neutral and just revs and dont catch? if so time for a new tranny
Update: Its a dead transmission. It whines like a supercharger when you start the car now. Also jacked up the car in park and spun one wheel and the other turned in the opposite direction. So the CV axle is no slipping, or popping out.
Ohhh well I wanted a 5 speed anyway.
Moral of the story: don't beat your automatic if you want it to last.
