Default Looking to buy a TIG

I have a small miller MIG welder. I want to get better at TIG. I have dont it a hand full of times. I tend to do my own projects with light fab stuff. Body repair, exhaust systems, intakes, stuff llike that. As of now i wouldnt ever do anything more than an exhaust manifold.

I have looked at the miller diversion, but have been told that the duty cycle would be quite high at 1/4" material.

So, what would you guys recomend?

The Dynasty is a good machine, and so is the older Miller Syncrowave ($1500-$2500). A very basic and inexpensive machine would be an older Miller Dialarc HF ($500-$800).

I would buy a used American machine (ESAB, Miller, Lincoln, etc) and stay away from the cheap Chinese machines (Longevity, Everlast, etc). I won't call them junk because I don't have personal experience with them - but I've heard the horror stories enough to stay very far away.

A search on welding websites will give you a lot more info, as your question gets asked weekly there. Just be sure it's not on a forum sponsored by one of these jokers - they do own some forum spaces on at least one mainstream welding website and delete any negative threads about themselves with regularity.

Essex, like I said, I have zero *personal* experience with these cheaper machines, but if it were my money, I would do the research I have suggested. Don't know if we're allowed to name other forums here, but go to WeldingWeb.com and do a search on Everlast. Make sure to read the results outside of their "sponsored" forum (where they can delete negative posts).

I'm only suggesting that PGT Driver do his homework. I know I'm new here, and most of you know more than me about Hondas, but I'm not a poser when it comes to fabrication - I weld for a living.
