Fuel Requirement on H22A4
Hey guys I'm new to the forum and I apologize for such a dumb question but I have been confused by a number of sources and need a true answer to the question of what octane fuel should I run on a 97-01 prelude? I can afford 89 octane but I'm not sure whether I can get away with 91. What is the actual fuel requirement for this motor stock?
Pretty much all Honda's say to run Premium only.(91-93)
With the H22a4, it's right around 10:1... so you could probably get away with 89.
Run 89 and see if it pings at all. If it does run 91. If it's real cold where you are 89 may work. An H22a needs 91-93 octane with stock ecu tuning.

I live in BC so its pretty cold all year. Does this have to do with the amount of air taken in because coldness increases density? But thanks for the advice
Heat causes detonation.(That's where the fuel ignites before the spark occurs because of heat and pressure). Detonation is bad. I'd still just run premium.
