Default ls build - Is my woodruff key too small?

ok so ive got an Ls out of a 98 teg. and it seems the closer i get to putting it in my ek the more little speed bumps i seem to hit. so the latest problem is with the crankshaft timing belt gear. the woodruff key i have seems like it isnt long enough to hold the time belt gear and the crank shaft pulley. the one i got from the dealership just seems to small. is it just suppose to hold the gear or is it suppose to hold the gear and crank pulley??

The woodruff key is really small.

All it does it slide into the gap on the pulley/gear and sit there. It stops your from spinning the pulley without out the crank.

yep. The little slit in the pulley/gear will line up, and it just hangs out in there.
