Honda 1988 Crx Dx:
JDM GSR B18C longblock
JDM B16 Transmission... DA clutch cable
I've been noticing my transmission has been keeping me locked out of gears (shifting into a gear) for sometime and its gotten progressively worst to the point where i dont like to drive my crx. i'd have the clutch pedal all the way to the floor and go to put it into first and its like i dont have my foot on the clutch at all and it just wont go in. not even in 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th or even Reverse. but than theres times were its like nothing is wrong which gets annoying and makes me procrastinate even more cause "its not so bad' which is false.
Has anyone ever experienced this kind of issue with a cable tranny? Im not sure if my tranny is just going out, my gears are crap or anything else for that matter.
Ok so ive been debating on getting a new cable tranny all together or get a hydro tranny with the cable to hydro conversion Or just get this one rubuilt any suggestions/thoughts/ideas.. Thanks peeps

i had a similar problem on my b16,i swaped my b16 tranny and fot a gsr cable trans.Hoping the problem would be fixed it came back again, gears were hard to throw in especially. first gear, and i grinded every time when put into reverse! Come to find out it was may CLUTCH..got a new one and my gears go in like butter.I feel u on that annoying part, struggling with your gears is not fun on the streets.no bueno.
Pressure plate, shift linkage, bushings, shift forks, among other things could be the culprit. Since you say it sometimes works and other times doesn't - I would lean more towards your linkage... hard to say since you haven't done any work yourself yet.

*Update
i know its super late but better late than never..
My clutch was almost gone but the culprit was my flywheel. it was gone so needless to say i got a new flywheel and my already purchased new clutch and pressure plate installed and it shifts like butter
..... thanks again for the replies and help Ewok and NevaEva
