Timing belt questions.
96 civic EX
What was the longest amount of miles did you guys go before doing the timing belt? Looking for extremes, not average 90k miles.
Also, for the ones who had a timing belt break, approx. how many miles did you have when it broke?

This thread lacks tech. It's just an opinion poll.
Do you have a specific tech question about your car?
Also, please post details about your car in your signature or use the Garage feature.

I had my timing belt done a long time ago, wanted to see how much risk of it breaking, so I wanted some opinions from other members who had the belt done the second time around.
Please enter car information into the Garage feature so I no longer need to remind you about posting details about your car.
If you don't know when the belt was replaced, just replace it. Why risk destroying the engine?

I changed mine at 115k on a 98 civic lx. The belt was approx. 11 years old. The belt was in great shape with no signs of excessive wear. The water pump was a little tight. I may have been lucky with the belt.
my teg had 100k on it when i bought it and the owner said he had just serviced the belt and water pump. i put 70k on it before i swapped it out myself just to be safe he was bs-ing but the belt and pump were still in excellent condition. but its better to be safe than sorry. do it now when it'll cost you less than costing you alot if it goes.
