i think would work.. but if it does.. then don't think your auto tran would last long..
or try to get a JDM AUTO GSR ECU (Japan had auto GSR, right? correct me if i am wrong.. but i remember i have seen it.) then you should be fine..
Good luck

no i dont think that it would work with the auto. since how would the ecu tell the trans to shift? but i dont know much about that topic. so take my .02 as that.

it will works with LS auto ECU but then what's the whole point to convert LS/Vtec?
unless he can find a AUTO GSR ECU from JP.

you sure man..
there is no way if he is running a 5 speed GSR ecu.. auto tranny won't shift, period.
by he is using LS auto ECu then the LS/VTEC motor will only run like a nonVtec, it will never hit Vtec. eg. GSR can run with LS 5 speed ecu no problem buth it will lose HP and run like a LS simply coz LS ECU doesn't read to hit Vtec function.
but then again, 5 speed LS won't be able to use GSR ecu, i don't know the correct answer though but i know it won't work.

A/T is shifted by a seaparate computer and not by the ecu. It gets some signals from the ecu but the cu does not control the solenoids in the A/T. Take a look at your shop manual. I would try it. Experiment by putting a 5 speed LS ecu into someone's A/T ls. I bet it would shift.

Yes, it will work. I am still running my auto LS ECU long after my 5-speed swap and turbo built motor. Only problem is a continuous check engine light for the shift solenoid position (that has to be permanently in PARK position to remove the key).

sorry man.. i was referring 5 speed ECU in an auto teg~~
i don't think it would work..

See the other HT member above.. stated "Experiment by putting a 5 speed LS ecu into someone's A/T ls. I bet it would shift. "

what do you think..

By the way, YEah i did auto to manual conversion too .. still have my OBD2B auto ECU in the car..and also running OBD1 ECU sometimes..
the only thing bothers me with my auto ECU is that check engine light comes on all the time and my D gage flashs every sec. lol.

the 5 speed ecu won't work on a auto teg... for auto teg ls/vtec setups, your gonna need a rpm activator to engage the vtec. MSD sells these. Or a aftermarket vtec controller like fields

This guy is right. To make this setup work your going to need a Vtec Controller.
When you get the GSR head your going to have to get a new intake because the manifold on the GSR sits lower than the LS. I also recommend getting new gaskets for the head and block when you make the conversion. You don't have to change your Ecu to get this to work. The downside to this is that the LS auto tranny is only going to be able to take 7000 rpm's which means your not going to get that powerful GSR redline of 8000. Now if your not going to convert from auto to manual then it makes no sense to get a GSR ecu because your tranny will never come close to hitting 8000 rpm's. You won't even reach past 7100.

so your saying i could keep my stock auto, non-vtec ecu and just buy a vtec controller and that will work? Also i have a header on my ls head, r the portd the same where i could just get the header ported to the new head?

major flaw here is *when* it will shift. Definately not at 8Krpms it should.

Just wondering if an auto P72 is used will the car shift at 6.9k or at 7.5k (redline of the auto DC2's)?

Go to this website they have Auto Gsr ECU's. They are very expensive though.
