i have a 89 std hatch that ive built a mini me in, its a d16a6 bottom end and a z6 top end. before i put the z6 head on it ran pretty good no tapping or anything. after, it taps like the devil but like from one spot in the head like around number 3. i just adjust my valves to spec this morning and it shut up some quite a bit, but still has some tapping. im suspecting one of those 4 circle spring loaded things on top of the rocker/cam bearing assembly.

if it matters i didnt clay the engine before hand, i was told i didnt have to

the car is obd-0 mpfi

 

i found it, its the number 3 LMA, anybody have a write-up on how to remove the cam bearing girdle? i cant find my manual
