Default Motor swaps

Hello, I have a 1987 Integra LS 5 door hatchback. It came stock witha d16a1 and a manual trans. Both are in fair to rough condition, I am thinking of trying to swap up to at least a b18. I wanted to get some input if anyone knew what motor/trans combo's could be swapped into this car. Thanks for any input.

The first gen Integra's came with one of the best D-series motors so swaping it out for another D isn't really an option. Anything other than a D is going to need aftermarket motor mounts and probably a little custom wiring and fitment. With dedication it can be done.

Here's a good write-up: http://hondaswap.com/swap-articles/1...view-da-29119/

Thanks for the input, looks like I will have to decide wether to rebuild what I have, or spend the extra to upgrade. If I keep the d16a1 to rebuild, any suggestions for ways to maybe beef it up some?

That may be a possibility down the road but money is the problem at the moment. For now, if I can build up the funds found someone with the exact same car in good working condition. He seems to be interested in upgrading motors, so may get a decent deal on his old stuff. His is an 88, anyone know if I will have to change ecm, I read that the 86-87 is one ecm, 88-89 is a little different.
