Default Reassemble D16 Bottom end w/motor in car?

Had some catastrophic failures and my pistons cracked on the ringlands.

We were able to remove the rods and pistons with the motor in the car and the girdle attached.

It was tight, but we were able to do it. Reassembly concerns me though.

Anyone ever do this?
Any pointers for putting new rings, pistons, bearings in there?

as i've recently learned, it's far cheaper to pick up a used short block than rebuild. it's also much easier to swap in a short block than properly build one back up. (esp. with a lack of experience and tools)

that's my recommendation. but it's your car so do what you like.

My car has 75.5mm Vitaras with FJ rods.
Car was assembled by local engine shop. Crank was at 1:00 when head was TDC. Needless to say, my pistons cracked

So the motor only has 300 miles on the build.

Purchased new bearings, pistons, and rings. Now I need to put the new ones in....somehow.

For the amount of hassle of working under the car you could just pull the engine and put it on a stand. For about $250 you can buy a new hoist and stand.

Im with you. Spend a few hours pulling the motor and do it right.
