Default ECHC VIR Fun... Pick the Winners

OK drivers and spectators, who's going to win on Saturday?
H2, H3, and H5 Championships will all be decided this weekend and all could potentially end in a tie. Should be interesting.

Mine...

H1
Reid
Very impressive on Sunday at Lowes turning the fastest race lap. The bugs seem to finally be worked out and Jack will be spectating.

H2
Jacobs
It's his. If nothing breaks. But Ratcliffe will not go quietly with a championship on the line. Franza will be waiting if Corey and Alex leave the door open.

H3
Refraining here. It's bad luck to pick yourself or your competition.
But I will predict that Shultz will have his best showing of the year.

H4
Kent
If he stays on the track for at least most of the race. Evans will be at Summit getting an SCCA championship trophy to match his Honda Challenge one.

H5
Floyd
At Lowes that car was STOUT after some TLC from OPM. Will likely steal the championship away from Whitaker.

PS - Damn, these trophies are big.

I won't post predictions for my class, as I agree about your "jinx" statement. However, I will say this...

H1-

Will be one hell of a battle. Chad got scared at Lowes, and rightfully so. Those walls get really close really fast. I can say with certainty that he will be a completely different driver at VIR. I say Slagg takes his first win, but Todd will be right there.

H2-

H3-

This is the class that I would be concentrating on the most if I was spectating. Brinson, Giles, and Shultz. Giles and Shultz both have the "VIR experience" advantage, but we all know how damn fast Chris is. Damn, this will be one hell of a race. If no major mistakes/mechanical failures take place, I say Giles takes a very close race.

H4-

Agreed, the WRC driver of the Honda Challenge will own this one.

H5-

We all know Floyd's fast, but I'm going with Whitaker on this one. I think the majority of us know that VIR is his last race with the 88 SI, so I think he's going to put on quite a show.

Jason-
who, like Scott for CMP, is tempted to just park his car and watch

H1 - I say Reid on Saturday, Slagg on Sunday. I'd give Reid the sweep but having heard him say he'd run the car until it melts at VIR, I think it's gonna melt.

H2 - I'm gonna go with Jacobs both days, barely. Alex (and i dare say Franza) will all be close and there will be a lot of position changes.

H3 - Tough to call. Giles wants it really, really bad - I just hope he doesn't want it so bad that he goes off or overdrives the car. I'll footnote H3 by saying that I'll outqualify both on Saturday, and will either stay in the hunt or crash the car trying. Enough of this conservative bullchit.

H4 - I'm going with David Rhodes. If he and the car can stay screwed together, he's got the game to win.

H5 - Floyd. Excellent driver in an improved car.

H1
Todd
I think Chad could take it but he is heading to Arizona right after and I really believe he will drive a little conservative to save the car so he can make the trip. If that wasn't the case I would go with Chad.

H2
Franza
He set the fastest lap at LMS and he knows VIR pretty well. I like to root for the underdogs whenever I can. Corey and Alex are strong but I'd like to see Jason pick up a win. He has proven that he has the game to do it.

H3
Shultz
The man knows VIR-N. He seems to have worked out his "new guy" jitters and is coming on strong. His **** has not been busted (amazingly enough) and I don't see that changing. Brinson doesn't know VIR as well as Shultz and Giles so I don't think he will be as big of a factor as he was at the other races (although he picked up CMP pretty quick).

H4
Kent
He is just ******* fast. If Evans was there it would be a tougher call though. I would like to see Ron Spencer get up onto the podium as well. I think he is still sorting out the car and working on some bugs though.

H5
Whitaker
I like John. I think it will be a tough fight but for some reason I think the crossover section will suit his car a little more than Floyd's Integra. I could be wrong though.

H2

Corey, unless the car breaks, he wins.....

Brinson, anyone that quick at lowe's will be quick enough at VIR

ps. says the guy in Rosen's red and white sentra, mixing it up w/ HC in the practice sessions

You've driven most of it though. You'll have to shift 3-4 in the middle of some Bad Place in the crossover but I'm sure you'll figure that out in the first few laps. The whole hill can be done flat. It's a handful in our (loose, relatively fast) cars but it's doable.

Thanks for the vote of confidence Drew - if I don't do well, I'll be pulling a very busted/bent/smoldering Integra back to North Carolina. I dare say that I have more miles at VIR than just about any other HC driver.

Rice, who is bringing his best A Game

It is ON.

Hell - I meant VIR anyway (not north) I know you and Brinson haven't done north but you have more experience on the rest than he does.

Drew - Who really hates to pick a winner in any of the classes since he considers everyone friends but H3 is harder than the rest

Hmmm...

H1
Reid. Next to Jack, he always looked so fast when he lapped me.

H2
Corey. The main battle tank will own the H2 Battle of Virginia. Alex will be close, though, but the tank has the big guns.

H3
I'm gonna go with Shultz here. The experience and determination to win this one will overwhelm the competition.

H4
Rhodes. Kent will be close behind and will take the race if Rhodes makes the slightest mistake...

H5
Who knows? Whitaker's car will be much more suited to this track than it was at Lowes. But, will he push his car hard enough since it has a new owner now? Will Floyd learn the track? Will his Puckett header be finished in time for his car to get the needed HP boost? Will a surprise driver show up from the local SCCA crowd and school us ALL???

Tune in next week for the exciting conclusion to the ECHC season!!!

H1: Todd, just because he is insane. I've known him 5 years now, and I still refuse to ride with him.

H2: Corey. That uphill section requires torque. I used to rip it up through there in my Prelude, so I gotta stick with my bretheren.

H3: Giles. Madass wing, yo! The crossover section does not take all that long to get down. I would love to see Karl win, to mix things up though. And because I want to see somebody protest him.

H4: Kent. See comments for Todd.

H5: Floyd. Again, the track suits torque, of which the Integra has a lot more than the Civic. I also think Richard has taken every head to head match up with John. I see Floyd stealing it all away in the final hour.

H99: Bookler. I hate to jinx things for myself, but I've been running H99 a little longer than Drew, and have a better feel for it. Besides, my car still rolls.

Hmm. Interesting.
Matt's fearless VIR picks:

H1: Todd Reid. Very impressive at Charlotte. Very. Anyone/thing that can run with Jack has some serious talent, hp, or both.

H2: Too close to call. I put a picture off all the contenders on the floor and my dog peed on Corey, so I'll go with him.

H3: Shultz has proven that when: 1) he brings his A game and 2) he has more experience at a particular track, he can roll the H3 crowd. Exhibit A: Summit Point (disregarding the bad luck at the start). He's got the north course experience and if he drives like he did at Roebling a few weeks ago, it's on. I pick Karl to win at least one of the races. Photo finish in the other race with the series champion being.....

H4: Kent, unless he forgets his ritalin.

H5: Too damn close to call. Might be the best battle of the weekend. What the hell, I'll take Whitaker.

Matt: Who will be perched in his lounge chair at hogpen watching the best race series no-one knows about...yet.

I guess I should go with my choices...

H1: WAY to close to call, Todds car is gutted now, and is putting up SERIOUS HP for a LS motor, and he's a nutcase.. Chad can FLY at tracks where he feels safe, and VIR is the place to do that, he has a lot of VIR Full experience, but not VIR north... Very very close, but I gotta go w/ Todd one day, and Chad another..

H2: No Comment.. The tank's got some new shells

H3: Again, very close, Scott and Brinson will be slow of the bat, and predict Karl to win Saturday, and Scott on Sunday.. If Brinson is on the same tires he had at LMS, I don't think he has a chance..

H4: Kent, if he stays on the track, but if he does go off, his shocks stay together

H5: Hum, very tough, John will surprise some, but I think the front straight is going to hurt his car to much, and Floyd's HP is going to run away..

P.S. "YO, Todd must have like 260 wheel HP, dawg....."

Chad your going need to retune that piece for over 320 crank HP in order to hold off Todd.

I guess I'll start with H5.

I said this before Richards Teg is super damn fast! He's not too bad of a driver either ........... as he put the hurts on me at Lowes.

Richard -
Pros: HP, fresher Hoosiers and great driver.
Cons: weight ( thats the only thing I could come up with...... I know its weak )

Me-
Pros: Lite car, fixed alignment ( 3/4" front toe at Lowes.... Long story) and a new yellow, bling- bling splitter

Cons: Too damn many to list!
- Lack of HP
- NEW BUYER WATCHING!
etc......etc.......etc......etc........

It will be a great race and I look forward to it........ It should be close.

Las Vegas has Richard 5-4.

H1- LONG SHOT!!! #00! Maybe on pole or outside next to Tank!

Both Jim and Frank KNOW VIR!
Home Field!!!! Hundreds of Laps each!

This maybe Frank and Jim's weekend. When their H1 big winged monster is finally dialed in.. look out. I think their car is under 1900 lbs w/ R motor and all the right $$$ parts.

H2- Tank. I had to replace the doors twice this year due to him lapping my Civic. Plus the red splitter is the Ace in the hole.

H3- New digs for #22. Contingency check and all, Scotty has new downforce. We just have to dial it in quickly in practice. If not Scott......... gotta say Rice is due. This will be the best race of the weekend. Chris will be right there behind if any mistakes from #22 and #78.

H4- Fan Favorite!
Silver Civic Ex couple and MR. Kent will win the Big Check!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the weekend.........

John
