y7 with y8 manifold Can someone help me out?????
So i know a lot of people will tell me to search... but iv been reading and with everyones different information its confusing me....
I have a 1996 civic dx with a y7. 5 speed transmission.
I wanna put the y8 intake manifold on it.
What i have so far....
Use my y7 throttle body.
Get a 96-98 y8 intake manny so i don't have to worry about to air injec holes.
Use my y7 injectors and fail rail.
Do i need the y8 throttle cable?
What about the 3 wire thing?? ivac???
Im very confused and just need someone to clear this up for me.

You'll need a Y8 throttle BODY and it's also possible the IACV won't work at all since it's of a different design than that used on the Y7. IACV on the Y8 is mounted on the manifold while on the Y7 is mounted on the throttle body. If you're located in an emissions testing state, this setup will unlikely pass smog. The model year of the intake manifold also matters because the '99-'00 manifolds have an air injection system which you cannot utilize. Doing this sort of swap is difficult if you don't have the service manual and the electrical wiring diagram.
As for why you possibly won't pass emissions, it's because you'll fail visual inspection using a Y8 manifold on a Y7...
They arent strick here. I know a few people who work there that are into civics and they dont even pop the hood. Just put in and the "dyno" and check for NOX and whatnot

the Y8 auto manifold would work in your situation. if you were to get that manifold with the TB as well you would have even less work. the Y8 auto uses the same 3pin IACV mounted on the TB. although the auto uses the same casting as the manual Y8, the plenum mount location for the 2 pin IACV is left unmachined (no holes). another benefit of using the auto Y8 manifold and TB; the throttle cable rotor won't have to be swapped out like it would with the Y7 TB.
the Y7 throttle cable can be used, it's just a little long. i just made up some brackets to hold the slack out of the way.
and for reference, i sandwiched a thin sheet of aluminum between the 2 pin IACV and the plenum with grey RTV on both sides to act as a block off plate so i could use my Y7 TB and IACV.
and don't forget, match the TB gasket to the TB you're using not the manifold you bolt it to.
