cig lighter ingition ?
seen couple times and my buddies have done the cig lighter start switch, I was trying to find out which wires from the ignition I would have to splice into the lighter and yes I searched just trying to get quick feedback. thanks
The wiring for your cig lighter is not big enough to support the starter. You will need to run bigger wire from the ignition to the cig ligher and go from there. I don't see this being benificial as any car theif can just follow the wires from your ignition.
As a stealth kill switch it is easy.
You will need a relay, [SPDT or SPST]...
Ign. side of cut starter lead to #30 of relay.
Starter side of cut starter lead to #87 of relay.
True ign., [hot in run and start] to #85 of relay.
Cut the power lead to the lighter, [cap off the hot side] extend the lighter side oc cut power lead long enough to reach #86 of relay.
Engine will not crank unless lighter is pushed in, [lighter supplies the ground for the relays coil] don't forget, you must pull lighter out as it is no longer connected to power so it will not get hot and "pop" out.
As an extra "layer" have a non working lighter in the lighter socket and stash the working one, just in case the crook knows about stealth switches.
The lighter can also be used as a switch for a latching relay so it can be used to "kill" anything, ign., fuel pump, PGM-FI Main Relay or its inputs or outputs, [fuel pump/ injectors] power to ECU/ECM. 94

^^^This. Because it's WAY too easy to follow wires from your ignition.

I should have mentioned, I do not recommend starter "kills" on standard transmission cars, not because it is easy to fallow leads from the ign. harness, [there are other places to do starter kill] but because starting a standard is as easy as pushing it and bump starting.
However as a layer of security, [along with other things] it is just one more thing a crook has to get past and as mentioned, there are other places, [other then ign, switch harness] that a starter kill can be installed.
You do not even have to use a relay, interupt the CIS lead to the starter relay, [with the lighter in between] is just as effective and pretty hard to see/fallow. 94
