Trying to get a feel for what you prefer whether it be an N/A car or something boosted to the outer limits.
First of all I myself am into mostly street driving (occasional strip) and don't mind a clutch that's a bit more aggressive but don't want something that's like an off/on switch if you get my drift.
Just trying to get an idea of some experiences you guys might have had with different stages, friction material, sprung or solid hub.
For instance, I've heard it said from that they liked a sprung hub disc because it was a smoother engagement and didn't have that annoying "chatter". Then again I've heard the opposite and the solid hub didn't chatter and only felt aggressive when there was a demand put on it.
Maybe chatter is not only allocated to a certain hub type but also to friction material.

Ok when it comes to street cars, nothing beats a stock type organic sprung disc. Over clutching a car is one of the most useless and annoying trends I have ever seen.

After all these years of driving and installing all types of clutches its hard to put a universal recommendation out there but I will try to sum this up without getting too carried away and stick to honda stuff.

My personal favorites:

Exedy clutch, oem replacement and stage 1 for all motor cars unless you happen to have some crazy high hp drag only setup.

ACT HD organic, great clutch for supercharger or *mild* turbo setups.

Competition stage 4 or 5 with sprung hub for typical turbo cars making 300-500 hp. Don't expect these to last forever the friction material is aggressive and can sometimes wear out fairly quick depending on your driving style/habits.

Exedy hyper single is awesome for road race cars that can benefit from a light clutch and flywheel package. Durability and reliability to finish races. Pricey but well worth it in my opinion.

I always choose the sprung hubs because solid ones will transfer more vibrations and harmonics through the transmission. Sometimes this can shorten the life and it can cause some really funky gear clatter that is annoying and unnecessary. A lot of people will complain about sprung hub failure and it is common....but I attribute this to rough driving habits. When I was in my younger years I popped a lot of discs by dumping the clutch constantly, chirping tires in every gear and doing burnouts. Ever since I stopped doing that (for the most part) I have no disc failure.

Thanks for the input. I know we're talking Hondas here but for the sake of conversation here me out.

I have an old B13 Sentra SE-R as a daily, just a stock car less the header and exhaust. After the stock clutch finally died I bought a cheap XTD kit, stage 2 w/ sprung hub. I drive very sane and don't beat on this car and one day after the clutch was working fine for a few weeks and I was very satisfied with it's smooth engagement. The without warning or any weird sounds it just started chattering terribly. So now if I don't rev it high (around 4K on take off) and feather the clutch right it seems like the engine is trying to beat it's way through the fire wall! Anyway I won't buy another one. I was just trying to stay cheap on my daily.

I'm mainly looking at an Exedy kit for my ITR and wanted something that was just a bit more "grabby" than stock but not annoying to drive if you get caught in grid lock traffic-you get my drift?

Thanks again for the input and look like I won't be getting another XTD or anything unsprung lol. Looking at an Exedy OE replacement for the B13 also.
