Civic SI all in one Key and Remote
I bought a key online for my Civic Ex but found out it is for a Civic SI only. Question is can i still use this or should i try to sell it. i would send it back but its an international shipment that costs more than the item.
I believe the programming sequence is still the same for that style fob. But, you're going to have to take that key to a Honda dealership to get it cut (if I'm not mistaken).
X2 on the key, Honda/Acura dealers have a special computerized machine that cuts them. I'm not completely sure about the fob part, but most likely it's the same.
Yes I will have the key cut at honda but I have been hearing the SI remote has a different chip than almost every other honda (01-05) uses another one. Does anyone have the part number off of their remote for an SI? My civic ex fob # is NHVWB1U523
Just try to do it.... Worst that can happen is that it doesn't work. Then you just get the keyless entry module from an Si and use that in place of the other. you're other remotes wont work, but at least the new one will. If you're worried about the immobilization chip, i don't know. Trial and error. Or ask a Honda electronics expert at the dealership.
