new to preludes, total failure, need help with 90 si states edition gold top
My wife was driving today and full speed on the interstate all electrical just died and guages dropped, engine kept running but very rough just managed to get it to the exit about quarter mile after. Pulled into a parking lot and the temp gauge shot straight up and a little bit of smoke came out if the engine bay. Im only two weeks inti owning this car have no idea what happened. I have a 91
civic I've worked on for years bur never had anything like this happen. Have not tried starting it. What on earth should I check and try doing?
Im desperate. My civics fuel pump died yesterday as well so im carless ha ha.

Other notes, smells like gas when tank is full fir some reason, third gear grinds, sometimes engine smells hot but temp gauge reads fine. Dies not burn or lose oil. That's all I can think to mention.

So you most likely have the B20a and someone painted the valve cover gold.
Obviously you need to check the basics, look for leaks on all the hoses, you might need to replace the thermostat, or you may need to replace you radiator cap.
Start there and post back.
But for future reference, you really need to make posts about this chassis in www.p r e l u d e p o w e r.com(no spaces) because you will get way more support there.
Most on this site do not know about the B20a5/A or B21a1/A.
