options....which rings to use with OEM pistons?
I'm just rebuilding a simple b20b using stock pistons on a fresh hone (not oversized).
All that will be done is shaved head to get cr to about 10.5, hytech replica header & intake, stock exhaust.
Aside from paying +$150 for OEM Honda rings, what are my options?
- NPR rings on ebay?
- Hasting rings?

npr ones are like 45 bucks on ebay and i have had good experiences with their piston rings...
even though you hone it.. the next size up is half a milimeter so u should measure with a dial bore gauge to make sure ur using the right rings.

Oem all the way, but if you want to cheap out on a critical part then I would go with hastings.
To put it in perspective, when ever I'm considering cheaping out on a part I say to my self "well, how many 200k+ miles honda motors are out there on original (insert part here) and how many 200k+ mile honda motors are out there running (insert cheaper part here). Just how I look at it. At one point honda had to warranty all their parts so keep that in mind in terms of quality.
Actually side note... if your not really going for longevity on this motor then just go with npr or hastings rings, but if your building it as a long term motor then really consider spending the extra money on oem rings. May not seem worth it now, but it will later when its got 150k+ miles and still going strong.

OEM. I bought some Grant off of eBay for $55 when I put USDM ITR P73s into my B18C1. 3k miles in, and burning oil. My builder commented the rings were lower tension, and warned me. Lesson learned. Just bought a set of OEM ITR rings from ICB for $142 shipped, and going to tear her back down to rering the psitons.
