Can ATTS be added to a base model?
Hi, my son bought what we thought was an SH prelude but turned out to be a base model wi manual trans. How big of a difference does the ATTS provide? Is it a reasonable/cost effective idea to add it? Other than ATTS are there any other differences between the base and SH Preludes? I tried searching the forum but didn't see that specified anywhere...
Thanks!
Thanks!
ATTS is just a huge pile of crap added onto the side of the transmission. It's a waste of time and money to add it on and makes maintenance like clutch changes harder to do.
LSD (limited slip differential, google it) is the way to go as previously mentioned.

the atts system is not crap. it was made for a set purpose and does it fantastic. No it can not be just added to a base. You would have to find a complete motor swap, add sensors to the wheels, there is a sensor in the bottom of the steering wheel. In other words, if you want atts. sell the base and buy a base.
hey Im new here first post!. well some people don't want atts due to its weight and extra maintenance but I would not say its a crap it meant to be there thats why honda did it.
answer to your question is No you cannot add atts on base prelude because the block of the engine is completely different to the sh model

Or just buy a Quaife.....Which is just not worth it for a street car either.....
I can clarify this......ATTS+FWD is crap, and causes nothing but issues. Modding, repairs, use..... Honda used the Prelude SH like a $2 ***** for testing. Now Acura sells almost every car with the AWD version. B) TL, MDX, ZDX, RL, RDX.....dubbed SH-AWD. :-) And its marvelous!

Notice Honda uses ATTS in their Luxury Cruiser Prelude TypeS, but thats it......Their "Sporty" versions have LSDs.
While I would take it over "nothing".......I'd much rather have the uber-less-problematic LSD. Barely even taking into consideration modding/tuning the car.
My friends RoadRace Prelude had nothing but ATTS issues.....
