I have a (non power steering) Eg shell that I just installed a power steering subframe in and i am unsure of where the power steering pressure switch harness goes. I know 1 pin goes to ground and the other goes to a pin on the ecu what i want to know is the path it takes to get there. should that wire be running in the engine harness or does it take it's own path from hose straight to the ecu?


If noone knows off hand, could someone with power steering please take the time and check your bay and trace this wire for me please? I am getting ready to drop my motor in and i dont want to deal with wiring stuff up once its in.

Not sure if this is correct for all models, but all of the ones I've noticed are in the engine harness.

 

thats what i would think. but nothing on the harness resembles the PS switch. I am using an obd2 b20 harness. i check the part numbers for the crv's switch ( all years) and the civic's switch and they are the same part so the plug should look the same.

If noone comes through with certain info i am thinking about using the wires for the automatic transmission on the crv harness and running it the rest of the way from the shock tower.

 

Just so happens I have a cut-up '01 b20 harness for parts. This may or may not help, there are three different harnesses for 1g cr-v's... '97,'98, and '99-'01.

The first picture is the plug off of a disassembled y8 harness. the pair is green/black.

You can see where the same pair poked out of the b20 harness down by the tape roll. I tried to snag a pic from the HELMs manual, didn't realize until now that I don't have the ETM though. The third pic is the best I could do, its C135.

The pin I believe will go to B8 on the ECU. Not sure how it routes though. When I did the PS swap into my 96 I never hooked up the PS wiring. I've never had an issue with idle drops however with it not hooked up.

 

im looking around my harness and i still dont see anything. maybe it was cut off but i dont see any signs of anything being removed.

Green goes to C16 (97-98) or A26 (99-01)

 

I have 2 connectors, 1 I dontuse, the other is for the PS switch. I'm issue they both are solid green and black wire. One of the plugs has silver spots on the wire. Anyone know which one is the PS switch?

 

There won't be any plugs with both wires matching unless someone has been cutting and splicing the harness. The silver dots on the wires don't mean anything, it's all based on primary color possibly with one stripe color.

 

Will both or only one connector couple with the PS switch? If the latter is true, then you have your answer.

 

How about we back up a step... what chassis, what engine, what loom are you working with here?

 

Sorry about that. It's a 98 civic ex with b20b4 swap using I believe an Acura obd2a harness and a 75-A04 ECU

 

Perfect. Do you have an evap purge solenoid hooked up? Does the harness plug in at your passenger side shock tower or run straight through the firewall to the ecu?

 

I don't see how you're using an acura harness in a 98 civic. .....

CRV loom is the best option for an EK chassis.

 

Yes I have the EVAP solenoid hooked up. The harness runs straight through the fire to the ECU. I could be wrong in the Acura part but either way the vtec sensors are the plugs I'm not using. Also I have 1 fuel injector that doesnt work. It's got to be witing or something because everywhere I put it that cylinder doesnt fire.

 

I had bought the car from someone else so all this is not only new to me, but I have no idea what he did. Alot of bad grounds I've found, along with bad soldering job. I've gone through the harness way to many times and dont see anything else

 

Eesh I hear you. Not fun inheriting someone else’s rat nest. Sounds like you need to go through pin by pin and find out what has been hacked. Check that you are getting ignition power at the yellow/black wire on your suspect injector. If not, you probably have a break in that wire. All of the yellows/black wires run to the junction connector under the intake manifold. Start there, sometimes the pins back out on these old looms.

 

I have done that. It goes to a stop plug then idk were. I'm assuming a ground or back to the ecu. I do not have any readings on my multi meter for that injector. do you think its possible I have a bad distributor or ECU?

 

 

Both are the same connector, and both have solid green and black wires. But ones green wire has silver Mark's on it

 

Start engine. Do you detect battery voltage to body ground on the green wire of only one connector or both connectors?

If the green wire of only one connector shows battery voltage to body ground, then that's the one to plug into the PS pressure switch.

 

Not likely on the ecu, I would say definitely not on the distributor. You have an injector wiring issue.

C116 , under the intake manifold, is power and ground distribution. It’s not an end cap or a “stop” plug. All four injectors and the iacv get power from that plug. That plug gets power from C130, the brown junction connector next to the ecu plugs. C130 gets power from C101 at the driver’s shock tower and the other yellow/black wires there go to power the ecu. No mysteries there.

So, if the car runs at all, you are getting power all the way to that connector under the manifold. If you do not have 12V at that injector with the key on, you have found your open somewhere on the yellow/black between the injector and that connector under the manifold. If you DO have 12V, you have a break on that cylinder’s injector signal wire somewhere between the injector and the ecu... those wires go straight to it. The order should be brown, red, blue, yellow for cylinders 1-4, respectively.
