B18C rev limits then limp mode ONLY when humid/rain
Hello everyone.
I have a 1994 Civic Hatch with a B18C1 swap. Recently I started noticing that when its 1am or so, when dew settles on the car and the air is moist, my car will hit a rev limiter between 5-6.5k rpms then go into limp mode (wont rev past 3k). There is a cel but it has always been there, its just an O2 censor thats not there anymore. I turn off the ignition, turn it back on, and everything is back to normal. Until I tap the rev limiter again.
When conditions are dry the car will rev to 8k in all gears like its supposed to.
I have no idea where to begin so any insight or advise would be helpful.
Thanks a lot.

Double check the ECU for DTC's. Jump the connector and count the blinks. That's the best place to start. You may find that it is not just an O2 sensor code that you have.
How's the oil level?

Check the distributor, [inside] for moisture, make sure the cap gasget is in good shape, #9... http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org/...s=&view=normal 94
I don't know what you mean by "Jump the connector and count the blinks." However the oil level is right where it should be, I always make sure its good on oil as it tends to burn some.

Replace the gasket it's only about $5
If there was moisture in the cap then there was moisture everywhere in the distributor, [all connections to the coil and IGM] oxidization WILL happen.
If it was my car I would pull the coil and ICM, clean and dry them and clean the terminals, make sure the inside of distributor was clean and dry, spray contact cleaner on all the teminals and connectors, reinstall the coil and ICM and unless cap and rotor are in good shape, replace them along with the new gasket.94

I had a similar issue with my B18C1 when there was moisture and humid. Replacing dist. cap / rotor fixed mine as well. Gotta make sure that's sealed up. Moisture is baaaad news.

I was beginning to think I was the only one this has happened too, haha. Everyone I talked to about it had no idea... This forum has been very helpful.
